4.0 out of 5 stars ~It does what it's supposed to do...take your BBT~
It doesn't cost much and lets you chart accurately so based on that alone this is worth buying.

~~~Some people on here have complained that it takes too long to take your temp. I totally dissagree. It is a few minutes, maybe 5 minutes max and that is only if your temp. is at its highest which takes longer. My Dr said to keep the thermometer under the tongue...
1.0 out of 5 stars not great
Within a month of using this, the beeps started sounding sickly and it seems to behave unreliably. It is now dead - it just show a tiny little icon that I think indicates the battery is low. That's pretty lame to come with such a low battery. It is also tricky to get the temperature to recall, i.e., if you fail to hold the button down just right to get it to show you...
~~~Some people on here have complained that it takes too long to take your temp. I totally dissagree. It is a few minutes, maybe 5 minutes max and that is only if your temp. is at its highest which takes longer. My Dr said to keep the thermometer under the tongue for at least 2 minutes so if this was any quicker I wouldn't feel comfortable that it was accurate.

PRO's:
*Cheap($)
*Accurate
*It beeps when finished
*It beeps when turned on/off
*Memory recall

CON's:
*I though the button was hard to push, BUT I am always still able to turn it on/off
*It isn't backlit, BUT it also doesn't claim to be
*The memory recall you have to hold down the hard to push button pretty hard and the temp only lasts there seconds before dissapearing, BUT you can turn it off then on and do the recall again if you miss it the first time.

I take my temp in the dark so the beep on is great and I am always half asleep or fall back asleep with it in my mouth so the beep when finished is great then I can turn it off and get another beep. And since I am always half asleep, I would never remember my temp if it were backlit anyhow. I ususally wait till I get home from work to recall my temp.

****For anyone TTC, you cannot rely on taking your temps alone to know when you are fertile. Most Women probably already know that but I had no clue till a couple months ago when I read the book-
"Taking Charge of Your Fertility, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health", I recommmend it to every Woman, especially if you are trying to get pregnant.

Within a month of using this, the beeps started sounding sickly and it seems to behave unreliably. It is now dead - it just show a tiny little icon that I think indicates the battery is low. That's pretty lame to come with such a low battery. It is also tricky to get the temperature to recall, i.e., if you fail to hold the button down just right to get it to show you the last temp it recorded, it might whisk right past that screen too quickly and clear the memory - seems you only get one shot at the temp recall! I'm happier with my Walgreen's digital and writing down or really making the effort to remember what it says.

4.0 out of 5 stars works, but needs a back light, March 8, 2006
You have to really have your eyes open and a light on to see the temp. Hard to do when you just woke up!! Besides that, it works fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars great but needs a light, April 6, 2007

This product works great and allows me to monitor my cycles (not anymore since i got pregnant:)) My only complaint is a light would be nice. I find myself fumbling with a flashlight, my chart, and a thermometer while trying not to disturb the dog or my husband. Takes temperatures like a charm. It does take about 2 minutes but i have found the ones that claim to be quicker aren't as accurate. Plus i just doze off and wake when the beeping tells me it's done. It gives you an excuse for 2 more minutes of snuggling!

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic, July 4, 2007

This is a basic thermometer. It beeps when it's ready to be read, but it does not have a light. I would recommend getting a thermometer with a light...if you can find one. It's much easier, I had one several yrs. ago.

Basal Body thermometers are hard to find anymore; many drugstores don't carry them. That's why I ordered this one on-line. I wanted it right away, so I didn't pay much attention to the features. All of the product features are as indicated from the maker.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Basal Therm, November 2, 2006
I am generally pleased with this product, however it does take a long time to reach the peak temperature. I'm talking, like, 2 minutes. Other than that I have been very pleased.

1.0 out of 5 stars this product is junk, June 17, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: FairHaven Digital Basal Thermometer (Health and Beauty)
This product has none of the features you would need for it to be basically useful:
1) It takes a long time to reach your temp (2+ minutes)
2) The beep signals are weak and unclear (you can't always tell when your temp has been reached)
3) The battery started fading within a month.
4) It is not backlit and while it does not claim to be, this makes it impossible to read in a dark bedroom in the am.

It would be well-worth getting a better product even at a slightly higher cost. I am throwing this out and am going to buy a new basal thermometer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great! (Recall feature), December 20, 2007
There were some reviews mentioning that the recall feature on this thermometer does not work or only flashes for a second but I have not found this true. The directions say to hold down the button until you see the last temp. taken and it's as easy as that. I also found that until I took my temp. again I could continue to recall the last temp. There was no need to worry about checking the temp. before I feel back asleep (even though I always do:) because of this recall feature. Also the temp. stayed displayed for several minutes if I didn't turn it off but it does eventually turn off on its own.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kind of useless to me, September 21, 2007

I tend to wake up a lot while sleeping, so I need to take my temp before I am actually "up" for the day. As such, I wanted something that would let me rely on the memory feature. This memory feature is completely intermittent. Sometimes you get the last temp, sometimes you don't. To further confuse things, the thermometer shows "97.7" every time you turn it on. I'm never sure if 97.7 is the actual temp or if it dropped my reading again. After an entire month of charting, I think I've only got 4 days of accurate temperatures. The button is hard to push, you actually need to use your fingernail to turn it on. I wouldn't buy it again.
