The soul of young Jazeel fell in love with her soul mate in the 1500’s. To the hand of an obsessed Scottish king, she was ripped from her love and forced to be a captive. At the age of only 19, she was condemned to die at the hand of her obsessed royal captor and she prayed that she would meet her true love again in the afterlife. The blade falls, ending her life—but begins another. Jazeel awakes to discover wings on her back, with no recollection of her past life, her purpose, the love she left behind, or the centuries that have passed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romantic Fantasy Magical!, May 16, 2006
This review is from: Fairies of Elysium (Paperback)
Soul mates-have you met yours? Are you married to that soul mate? Online dating services are booming in this decade. One service even claims that you can find your soul mate just by applying science to find your right companion. And all of a sudden, your first kiss is magic! But then, if you are watching this commercial, surely you have the follow-up question, like the old song, "Do you believe in magic?"

Danielle Marie Linton, in Fairies of Elysium, has created a delightful response to these questions that have been and will be asked for all time! If you need the answers to the above questions, then this book is a Must-Read for you! It is a romantic fantasy that will be enjoyed by teens and adults alike!

Jazeel, in her third life, tells the story of her lives-all of them. Jazeel was murdered in her first life. She left her second life, as a fairy, and began her third through "magic." She lost her soul mate and husband in her first life, found him again in her second life, and, through love, was able to magically become a human and his wife in her present life. I thought I should spell that out right up front-I know, it does get confusing at times! But then, isn't life itself?

Jazeel was first born in the renaissance period. She was a young beautiful maiden of 15, born into a poor but loving family. Her only wish in her young life was to marry Lane, her beloved, and start a life with him, as well as stay nearby her parents. These three individuals were her whole life and she was happy and content.

The villain-none other than the King! Unfortunately in those times, there was a "crude custom" which allowed that the King could take any woman, on the night of her marriage! The beauty that Jazeel possessed led all in her family to be afraid that the King would seek to claim her on her wedding night; and so they secretly planned and held a small wedding, with only the Priest to carry out the ceremony. However, the King had their house watched and when both a Priest and Lane were seen leaving, the King came calling. Jazeel was to be his for the night!

Jazeel wasn't the first maiden that the King had moved into his castle-nor, indeed, his last! But, she was of such a sweet, open spirit, that he did fall in love with her. Going against all advice, he claimed Jazeel as his and eventually she became his queen. The one thing that could complete the King's happiness was a child; however, Jazeel lost many of her babies through miscarriages and then finally did have a little girl. The child was well loved. However, the loss of her true husband continued to prey on Jazeel, until she came upon an idea. She convinced the King to become more involved in showing his followers that he was a caring father by having him deliver her baby to her grandparents' home while he went hunting. Soon, notes were passed between Jazeel and her husband, hidden in the baby's diapers! At least she was able to have some type of communication with her loved ones, even though she was never allowed to leave the castle. At least that was so, until the King had her head cut off!

And Jazeel woke up with wings!

Jazeel remembered her name, but nothing else. She was met by a male fairy who took her into a village of beautiful fairies where it was explained that, oftentimes, humans came back to earth as fairies instead of going on to Heaven. Hundreds of years had passed since her death. She was now to be a dream fairy-a fairy who could watch the dreams of humans and ensure that they were happy ones.

The life of a fairy was strange and different but Jazeel soon was on her own, heading to the nearby large city where humans dwelled and where, at night, she could begin her work.

About this time, readers might begin to experience a sense of deja vu! For Jazeel meets Brian and she again disobeys rules; she enters his dreams! And, then, she finds a way to magically become human to meet and be with him. Of course, she is in love with him! For she knows that this human, this Brian, is her soul mate, Lane!

So does true love last forever? And if you become separated from that soul mate, will you have a chance to find him again? Does God see true love and will He help to ensure love is fulfilled? Or does an individual merely fall in love and return again and again, searching for a lost love, a love that can never be?

Fairies in Elysium-a love story like no other! Experience the cruelty of the 1500's when royalty reigned supreme. Feel the suspense, the tragedy, the dilemma of two souls who believed in and followed the words of the Biblical love chapter and committed their love to each other, only to be torn apart by a cruel, unloving man.

Personally, I enjoyed what happened to the King most of all!
