Inflammation of the foreskin reminds me of your smile. . . .,

This review is from: The Fairly Incomplete and Rather Badly Illustrated Monty Python Songbook (Paperback)
This is a book for every Monty Python fan out there! It is really excellent, and includes almost all the songs, excluding a few of the lesser ones like "Sgnt Duckie's Song" and "The Window Cleaner Song" but just about everything else is in there. Admittedly, it's a bit annoying about some of the music being illigeble, such as "Eric the Half A Bee" appearing in a sphere shape, and "Bing Tiddle Tiddle Bong" being flipped totally around. However, it's still a great book, and the foreword, afterword, and middleword by Elvis and God are very funny. There's nothing better than to sit down at the piano sometimes and just play magnificent songs like "I've got a Ferret sticking up my nose..." This is a super book!

One strawberry tart without much rat in it later...This book contains many great Python songs, including "I'm a Lumberjack and I'm OK," "Galaxy Song" (from "Meaning of Life"), "Every Sperm is Sacred," "Dennis Moore," "Eric the Half a Bee," "Always Look on the Bright Side," "The Philosophers' Drinking Song," "Money," "Christmas in Heaven," "I've Got a Ferret Sticking Up My Nose," etc. etc. It's musically and lyrically accurate, although as one other reviewer noted, the insanely creative Terry Gilliam layout and artwork sometimes make it hard to read the stuff--but that's part of the fun, isn't it? There are a lot of wonderful surprises in here. Not only that, it's a great resource that will give you, your friends, and--if they're cool--your family--something to do that's much more entertaining than watching another boring episode of Novel Writing or eating Spam.

This book far disappointed me as a music/piano book. This book contains only melody lines with no accompaniment, except for chords above the melody lines. And to make matters worse, the music is not on solid colored paper, but on different colored paper with images superimposed on it.
I'm surprised at how people liked this book, because unless you play guitar, or just want to plunk out a melody with cheesy block chords, it's not worth the money.

Wow. I have the big box set of Monty Python's Flying circus, and had basically memorized all of the songs. I also have most of the movies. So finding this little jewel was a real treat! Now I can play them on my trusty piano, and have the background music. This will make for some weird family reunions :)

The mystery has been unravelled!,

This review is from: The Fairly Incomplete and Rather Badly Illustrated Monty Python Songbook (Paperback)
When I first saw that Monty Python had put out a song book, I knew that, being a devout Pythonite, I simply had to buy this book! As I flipped through the magazine textured pages, my heart's burning desires to know the melodies and texts of every Python song were quenched! Everyone who is a Python fan should own a copy of this book. The animation, the silly notes and the songs themselves are hysterical!!!

This book is filled with lots of hillarious song lyrics, ranging from the witty to the weird and silly and is useful if you feel the need to sing along to some of your favourite Python songs while listening to a Python* CD, especially when you come across parts where it is difficult to understand what they are singing. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend buying this book. The artwork is interesting**, but is not worthwhile in itself, and just reading the lyrics is less rewarding than listening to the songs. And none of the songs are new. So if you just like LISTENING to Python CDs and don't feel the need to join in***, there is no point in buying the book. Furthermore, if you want it for playing the songs on the piano, as some of the other reviewers point out, it is often difficult to read, and it is also impossible to prop up properly without causing some damage to the spine (of course if you don't care, you could just cut out the pages, etc.).*Not recommended for singing along to death metal bands...

Every fan of Python should own a copy, espesially if you are musically literate. I much enjoy sitting at the piano and singing to the songs as I play along. All of the lyrics are published for every song. The only flaw is that in a misguided attempt to be funny (which I can understand) not all of the music is legible. However it does not detract from the over all hilairity of the book. A must-have.

This book contains some of the best of the Monty PYthon songs that you have never heard such as Spam, Always look on the Bright side of life, etc. (That's no the name of a song). I use this book whenever I need to listen to a song on one of the movies and don't know the words which is often becasue of that darn British accent that every one hates, just joking.
