Book Description

Glitterwings Academy
Twink has completely settled in to the wonderful, great, oak tree that is Glitterwings Academy. She has two great friends - Bimi and Sooze. Bimi is quiet, thoughtful and supportive, and Sooze is full of energy, a little thoughtless and great fun! It is Sooze who persuades Twink to take some Fairy Dust to perform a prank on some of the other students, but it all goes horribly wrong Glitterwings Academy is a lovingly created series by acclaimed author Lee Weatherly, writing as Titania Woods. Readers of the series can be assured of accomplished narrative, as well as stylish and exciting illustration.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read aloud books for kindergartener and second grader!, September 20, 2011

I've been desperately searching for books to read aloud to my 6 year old girl that we can both enjoy. Beverly Cleary's Ramona series didn't grab her. The Rainbow Fairies series did, but I put myself to sleep reading those aloud (boring!). The Glitterwings Academy series has been just what the doctor ordered. The books are well written and take my daughter along on the protagonist's emotional journey (which is what she loves about movies). In each Glitterwings Academy book, Twink deals with some aspect of growing up -- in Flying High she learns how to deal with not being able to do what comes easily to others in her class. For kids, it echoes what it is like being the only one struggling with reading. Or the only one not yet able to do a cartwheel in gymnastics. We've now read 4 of them, and my son (in kindergarten) is enjoying them, too! We read it on Kindle for iPad (the drawings come out better than on my Kindle), so it makes the reading that much more fun for the kids.
