Fairies and Horses - A Charming & Winning Combination,
By The Faerie Kat (Orlando Area) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fairy Foals: The Journal of a Magical Garden (Hardcover)
This over sized book of colorful paintings, detailed sketches, delightful poems and story journaling will charm both children and adults.
Suzanah introduces us to the tiny fairy foals that inhabit her Grandmother's garden, which she discovered after she inherited her Grandmother's house in the country. I promise you will find it very challenging to pick a favorite from amongst the herd! There's Little Brown, Fuzz, Fly, Snowflake, Dancer, Chaser, Pixie, and Sapphire, each uniquely gifted and beautiful. Bringing us into the garden with her, Suzanah entices us to experience the antics, playfulness and clever thinking of these magical creatures, awakening our own inner fairy foal in the process. The painting colors are vibrant, the settings are lush, and the execution is flawless. The black and white "sketches" are so detailed and beautiful they easily rival the color paintings for attention. The poetry is pleasing without being pedantic or syrupy, and the prose is charming, light and lilting. Every faerie enthusiast should have this book on his or her bookshelf or coffee table. Every parent who has a child that loves either fairies or horses definitely needs to give their child this incredible gift of imagination.

A visually entrancing giftbook for fantasy lovers and equine aficionados of all ages,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fairy Foals: The Journal of a Magical Garden (Hardcover)
Though at first glance Fairy Foals: The Journal of a Magical Garden might appear to be a picturebook, it is in fact a much more lengthy and sophisticated work of fantasy, sure to appeal to adult fantasy lovers as well as to children with reading skills sufficiently accomplished to enjoy the next step beyond picturebook reading. Illustrated on every page with gorgeous, colorful artwork of tiny, butterfly-winged "fairy foals" that are said to appear in the author's garden, Fairy Foals tells a simple tale of friendship, frolicking, and wonder as these magical creatures explore their marvelous world of greenery, flowers, and sometimes even danger from natural predators like spiders or lizards. Highly recommended as a visually entrancing giftbook for fantasy lovers and equine aficionados of all ages, Fairy Foals would grace any personal or community library collection.

I was unsure about buying this book for christmas, but my daughter begged for it when she was 7, so I got it. It was worth every penny. Beautifully illustrated, it tells a story of a discovery of a new sort of forest creature, fairy foals. It is much more than many of the typical 'ology' books out there, with backstory to make the book much better: a story instead of a guide. My oldest duaghter (now 9) treasures this book above all others she owns.

Beautiful,
This review is from: Fairy Foals: The Journal of a Magical Garden (Hardcover)
This is a beautifully illustrated and enchanting book. It may be a children's picture book, and I may be a teenager, but this is one of my favorite books. Each fairy foal has it's own personality, from Fly the prankster, to Fuzz the pony fairy foal with his big appetite, the author draws you into each foals stories with their little antics, and the amazing illustrations. Sit down with your children and read this with them. It's a wonderful book, a great addition to any child's library, and will be treasured.
