5.0 out of 5 stars Fairy Oracle
I love these cards! They did not all look like "fairy" cards, but the artwork is beautiful. The front of each card has a picture done by Sulamith and on the back of each card is a saying - something for you to think about in your own life, such as "Learn to pause...or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you." "When you gaze upon a rose, enjoy her...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute Images, But Not Really An Oracle
The art of Sulamith Wülfing (1901-1989) reveals a hidden mystical world that captures the beauty and spirituality of darkness and light, fairies and angels, and otherworldly spirits.

Rich with medieval-style ornamentation, 40 of Wulfing's subdued paintings grace the cards of the Fairy Oracle. The back of the cards feature a black and white illustration...

The front of each card has a picture done by Sulamith and on the back of each card is a saying - something for you to think about in your own life, such as "Learn to pause...or nothing worthwhile will catch up to you." "When you gaze upon a rose, enjoy her beauty - don't count her petals" and "The only important things in life are the traces of love we leave behind." Along with many others. I am very happy to have bought this deck of cards. And it would make a great gift too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful deck of cards and thoughts, November 28, 2003

"It is an ironic habit of human beings, to run faster when we have lost our way." That was one of the first cards I pulled out of the deck when I first received them and I've kept it in the back of my head ever since - especially when work and such start getting the better of me. Each card has a beautiful, dreamy painting on one side, with a special thought on the other side. Its not about fairies per se and even the artwork is just a pretty young maiden in most cases, not a fairy per se either. So its a bit different than expect but really a nice set of cards and thoughts for the day.

This review is from: Fairy Oracle (Cards)
The art of Sulamith Wülfing (1901-1989) reveals a hidden mystical world that captures the beauty and spirituality of darkness and light, fairies and angels, and otherworldly spirits.

Rich with medieval-style ornamentation, 40 of Wulfing's subdued paintings grace the cards of the Fairy Oracle. The back of the cards feature a black and white illustration with a brief saying intended for oracular use. Some examples include:

"Every new beginning has a protective magic that helps us to grow."

"The moment you are following somebody else, you are no longer following the truth."

"As many souls, as many pathways to God."

"It is an old, ironic habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way."

"Be careful not to become so heavenly that you are useless on earth."

There is no booklet or guidebook that accompanies this deck.

While the Fairy Oracle images are cute, the cards as an oracle aren't particularly deep. If you're used to the Tarot and other meaningful oracles, you may be disappointed with this deck. However, if you like looking at pretty pictures, enjoy daily inspiration, and have an affinity for nature spirits, you'll likely enjoy this delightful deck.

Sulamuth Wulfing is a fine artist and these cards are just another example of what a visionary artist she is. I have admired her work for over 20 years, and am pleased to see that it is continued to be produced in various forms and mediums.

1.0 out of 5 stars these should not be called "oracle" cards!, January 8, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Fairy Oracle (Cards)
Cute? Sure, they're cute. But ORACLE cards? No way. These cards are simple, often trite, and quite "cutesy." At most, they provide some sort of ambivalent little daily quirp... if you're really into pondering that sort of thing, then these may be the cards for you.
Do not purchase these if you are expecting any sort of card reading in the traditional sense. There's no card layout and no purpose to this toy. If you still insist on buying them... take mine!!
