5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Collection of Fairy Tales, November 23, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fairy Tales of the Orient (Hardcover)
I had this book as a tween and young teen. I re-read many of the stories over and over. They are so beautifully written and even haunting. They transported me to many exotic ports and romantic time periods. Many have morals that aren't simplistic or mean sprited as in English fairy tales. I am buying it as a holiday present for my 13 year old avid reader daughter. I can't wait to delight in the pages with her all over again. I wish my mother had'nt given it away, but I am so pleased to find it here on Amazon.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fairy Tales to Sink Your Teeth Into!, April 6, 2006

This review is from: Fairy Tales of the Orient (Hardcover)
This is one of my favorite books! I'm so glad to have found it again! The tales are so much deeper than the common Eastern fairy tales. Heros and heroines go on long twisted, convoluted journeys, meet some of the most interesting, magical, wise, strange and mystical characters, learn a whole bunch of lessons, return to victory and full more-than-happily-ever-after lives...and a young child can STILL follow the plot!

The illustrations are authentic, not sappy and fake like the ones you find in most fairy tales. Also, the stories are about folks of all different shades of brown. How refreshing to read and share magical stories of wonder, adventure and wisdom about people from lands different than white Middle America!

My folks read this book to me as a kid 40 years ago...I found it in a pile of family books and enjoyed it again during my adulthood...lost my copy...and now get to read it to my kids!

You can't go wrong with this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect condition, perfect transaction!, April 13, 2009
This review is from: Fairy Tales of the Orient (Hardcover)
the book is in mint condition, as the seller promised, I would recommend this seller again. The whole transaction was flawless. I had this book as a child, but it got lost over the years, wanted it for my library, when it arrived I felt 8 years old all over again! I will treasure this book. Thanks to the seller for helping a small dream come true.
