About the Author

Constance Phillips lives in Ohio with her husband, two ready-to-leave-the-nest children, and four canine kids. Her perfect fantasy vacation would involve hunting Dracula across Europe with her daughter, who also digs that kind of stuff. When she's not writing about fairies, shifters, vamps, and guardian angels, she's working side-by-side with her husband in their hardwood flooring business.

Constance is actively involved in her local Romance Writers of America chapter (MVRWA) and the Southeast Michigan chapter of the United States Pony Club. When not writing or enjoying the outdoors, she loves reality television or can be found at a Rick Springfield concert (just look for the pink Converse high tops).

Constance blogs regularly at constancephillips.com. You can also follow her on Twitter or friend her on Facebook.

Fairyproof caught my attention immediately and held it throughout. I enjoyed the fairy mythology and and the world that Constance creates for her characters. I also thought it was the perfect blend of action and romance. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

Monique has fled to the human world to escape an arranged marriage to a less-than-worthy fairy. Although tough, she manages to get by each day by taking various jobs and moving every couple of months all the while relying on her fairy power that allows her to manipulate humans. But when she meets Daniel, everything changes. I really enjoyed seeing this story develop and was pleasantly surprised with how all of the plot points ended up melding together into one. I had my suspicions of Daniel's family but did not expect who the runaway fiancée was. It was a little difficult for me to get into the instant love between Daniel and Monique, and I honestly struggled with it up until the very end. But once Daniel's family history was revealed, I was able to believe that there could be an innate attraction between the two within a very short amount of time. The character development was really well done, and I especially enjoyed Billy. Monique tended to be a little too whiny at times when it came to her jealousy over Veronica, but that was usually overshadowed by the rest of the great dialogue and character interactions. Constance has created a believable world that any urban fantasy fan would surely enjoy.

The Good:
I love fairies and think Constance did a wonderful job incorporating their mythology into the human world. Totally my cup of tea!

The Issue:
There seemed to be several instances when the POV would change mid-chapter. This threw me off and I was forced to re-read some sections in order to understand which character we were hearing from.

In summary:
Fast paced, great characters and an entertaining read.

This my first time reading one of Constance Phillip's book and the first time reading a book about fae.

Monique is on the run from the fairy world and living among the humans. She is running form her brother Keiran who is forcing her to marry someone she doesn't want,he wants to be able to chose who she loves - which is only fair right?
She has been on the run for six months and in the time her brother has almost caught her but she keeps managing to move on just in the nick of time, Using alias to get jobs she applies for a position where she tires her fairy magic only to discover it had no effect.

Daniel Elliot is intrigued with Monique and despite himself he finds himself wanting to hire her. Daniel is unlucky in love, his fiancé disappeared along with his grandpas ring and nothing had been seen or heard from her since. He has tried to find her but always draws a dead end.

The sub-plot that is also going on within the main storyline was rather good. I really enjoyed this story and after my initial thoughts of not connecting with Monique I warmed to her more as the story progresses.

This is not my genre of books, but I met Ms. Phillips at an author event and we struck up a friendship. I have read several other of her contemporary romance books, but dragged my feet at reading Fairyproof. What a mistake! From the beginning of the book until the last page, I was truly mesmerized. As the story weaved its magic, I forgot all about not liking fantasy books (with fairies and powers and different worlds, and such nonsense) and was totally drawn in to the story. I always judge a book based on how long the characters live in my imagination after I have finished the book, and with this book, they will live for quite some time. The characters in Fairyproof came alive with a believable story of family, deception and love. In the end, I was routing for the bad guys to get their due and for Daniel and Monique to get their HEA.

I will not hesitate to read another on of Ms. Phillips books regardless of the genre. You will not go wrong with purchasing and reading this book. A truly acceptation story.

I was instantly hooked by the idea of Ms. Phillips' book--a fairy who is used to getting humans to do her will by "bespelling" them meets a man who is immune to her spells, who is, as the title says, "fairyproof." What will the fairy, Monique, do now? She needs the employment the impervious hero can provide, while she hides on earth from her overly protective brother and his determination to return her to the fairy world and to marriage to the very powerful Eero. Ms. Phillips weaves a highly entertaining story that asks and answers question upon question--why is the hero, Daniel, immune? why is Eero so determined to "bind" (fairy-speak for "wed") with Monique? what happened between Eero and Monique that caused her to flee? In learning the answers to these questions, we come to understand the interconnections between the fairy world and the human world that Ms. Philiips so imaginatively conjures.

I want to say Thank you to Constance Phillips for sending me a copy of Fairyproof to read and review. Now on to my review and I must say I love the story line. Also love the different point of views. You have Monique that is an fairy and on the run from her brother Keiran that is trying to run her life. So she hides in the human world but she uses the name Naomi. Then she meets Daniel that is Immune to her powers and can't seem to figure out why but of course she is falling for this guy big time. You will love Monique and Daniel!! Sorry I don't want to give too much away. So you have to get your copy of this book it was great.
