3.0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as some would lead you to believe
This game is not that bad. It doesn't have mind blowing graphics like a next gen game should. It is sort of like Fat Princess meets Little Big Planet. I paid $60 bucks for it and honestly it is not worth that much. This is a $30 game at best. It is fun chopping up characters and skating around in their blood, but it does get old especially when it is not an open...

I paid $60 bucks for it and honestly it is not worth that much. This is a $30 game at best. It is fun chopping up characters and skating around in their blood, but it does get old especially when it is not an open environment. The boss levels are a bit challenging so there is some hope. Unfortunately, you never really die. I mean you do, but you keep coming back to where you left off. There are 50 trophies to get, if anything that should keep you interest for a while. I tried to play online, but I don't think a whole lot of people own this game yet (nobody there). This game will probably become more popular as the price drops. It is fun and the animations are humorous so if you got cash to burn or you have a twisted sense of humor like myself then add this game to your collection otherwise rent it or wait till the price drops.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, November 12, 2010

So I picked this game up because I thought it sounded entertaining and I needed a new little slash'n'hack. I didn't really expect much from it, but was I ever wrong to think it wouldn't be awesome. This game is amazing. I love the huge variety of weapons to choose from! And the storyline is way more complex than I expected it to be, it's fabulous. I also love that I can play by myself or with others, or online. Its great to have a game that's so versatile. I play this game almost every day now. And I love the trophies, they're awesome, I'm currently working on unlocking some of the hidden ones. Great game. I love it :)

If you're not into blood and gore, and twisted little plots, I'd stay away from this game. Think Tim Burton. It's that kinda thing. If that's your thing, this is your game :)

3.0 out of 5 stars In a Nutshell..., October 7, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fairytale Fights (Video Game)
I'm not a great gamer typically. I grew up in the 70s/80s when gaming to us was Pac-Man, Missle Defender and a variety of other tedious Atari games. (Yes, we even had a Magnavox Odyssey at one point and we LOVED it.) My kids want us to be better gamers. I've gotten through Heavy Rain, which amazed me, and am working my way through Red Dead Redemption though the mountain lions drove me nuts for a while. Again, aiming is just something I struggle to master.

Aiming in a hurry is definitely not a high point. My teens kick my behind left, right and center which makes it very difficult to ever get good at a game because you can't stay alive long enough to build any skill. For this reason, my husband and I saw Fairytale Fights in a bargain bin and figured it was worth the few bucks to have a game we might be able to play to build some skill. Plus, after a stressful work day, slaughtering evil axe-wielding men, fairyland creatures and cute fuzzy animals that happen to get in our way just seemed too much fun to pass up.

Given that, I love that aiming in Fairytale Fights really is an afterthought. You swing your club, picnic basket, axe, dead fish, hammer, etc. in random directions when you're attacked and blood flies. You need to aim in the general direction, but there's no precision aiming that is required in my kids' favored first-person shooter games.

The characters are amusing, though you see more of their antics during the opening than during the game.

Boss battles aren't horribly challenging and I actually won two without issue which is a minor miracle for me.

Given all that, the camera angles are the sore spot. Could the designers NOT come up with a way to let you control the angles. At times, you're so far away from the characters that they look like ants. Then suddenly, you turn a corner and they're normal size again. That was extremely annoying.

For the most part, I enjoy this game. I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but on a discount, it's definitely entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth $9.99, August 7, 2010

I thought this game was great, its a good game to play if you just want something that takes NO strategy or thinking, its just a good old fashioned hack and slash! I gave this game a 5 star review based on the price i paid. I got it used on Amazon Warehouse deals, and only paid $9.99, and it was worth every penny. I say if you get it for under $14.99 it will hold its 5 stars.

$15.00 - $19.99 - 4 Stars

$20.00 - $24.99 - 3 Stars

$25.00 or more - 2 stars, (wait till you can get it cheaper!)

If you scale down the flaws in the game and compare it to the price you get it for, i think you can overlook some quirks here and there and have yourself a really good game!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun to Play, January 7, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

Overall, this is a fun game to play. As others stated, the camera angle gets a little funky at times. Turning the zoom feature off definitely helps, though. The bosses can get a little annoying, but overall, this is an awesome game. Fun to play co-op, though so far, noone has been online to try it that way. My fiance and I enjoy playing this together.

I love this game - I have it for the PS3 and XBOX360. You play as the naked emperor, snow white, red riding hood or jack. You battle fairytale monsters and bosses. I LOVED IT. made me happy. Only qualm is I can't find the invisible sword behind the waterfall in level 10????

3.0 out of 5 stars Could've been better!, October 5, 2010
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fairytale Fights (Video Game)
I bought this game because of the original premise. But what could've been a great, quirky title became a repetitive, hollow experience. Take classic fairytale celebs, like Little Red Riding Hood, Jack [from jack and bean stalk], a naked king or something and Snow White and you end up with a unique cast of characters that all feel and operate the same and have nothing to distinquish one from the other. WHY!? It's like someone with a good idea, tried to dumb it down as much as possible, while trying to do something different by adding a ton of blood. They should've looked at Little Big Planet for a game targeted at the same age group, but manages to incorporate a lot of depth as well.

The Good news is that for the first few levels, it's promising. Reminded me of Banjo Kazoee on n64 or something - without the free-roaming. There are a ton of weapons to pick up, but they all stab and operate the same, except for the chain saw - which was one of the 'funner' choices. The screen splits to show pretty much the same character models hacked to pieces, which was cool the first 10 times. But this game, just lacks polish and forethought in way too many areas. Their QA department must be a bunch of non-video game players to think this was a successfull title to invest their own time and sweat into, let alone any gamer worth his/her salt.

No matter your age, this game kind of blows! Go for LBP instead if you're looking for a kid friendly game with personality or god of war if don't mind the gore - or crave more of it. Or bayonetta if you want better mechanics, polish and personality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bloody Fun Time, April 12, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fairytale Fights (Video Game)
Now, I have only played the X-Box 360 version, but how different can they be? Anyway, this game was so much fun. I have not finished it yet (only played it one day and had to leave to go to rehearsal), but what i have played was quite fun. I actually kind of like the repetitiveness of the game. My friend and I were trying to see who could get the bigger combos. My favorite weapons are the Lumberjack Axe and Swordfish Sword. Of course there are some downsides. Some of the ways to die are just plain stupid and it on the spots where you slip and slide off into either hot boiling caramel or something and you have to die like 25 times just to get across is dumb. Plus the fact that you loose $$ everytime you die. It sucks to have over $20000 then be down to like $500 because you couldn't cross a damn river. And I do agree that sometimes the camera angles leave a lot to be desired, but that's only very few times I've had that issue. All in all, it's still a fun game and probably way more fun in Co-Op than playing by yourself.
