Thank God it's not Kansas anymore,

Mike Ivey is getting away from both the vulgarity and overproduced sound of "Kansas." While he has yet to return to the laid-back calm that was the classic "Play with Toys," clearly, more and more jazz influences are coming to the fore here. While some may be turned off by the constant born-again heavyhanding, Mr. Ivey has clearly found his calling, and is trying to preach to those other than the choir here. All in all, a good recording.

Basehead grows up,

This review is from: Faith (Audio CD)
I was a bit taken a back 5 years ago when this album first came out, could this possible be the same guy who once wrote songs like "Do You Want To ... or What?" and "Ode To My Favorite Beer," but sure enough it is!Many listens later I grew to love it just as much as the rest of their discography. This is my least favorite of their 3 albums, but no doubt this is light years ahead of any other hip hop artist out there today. Smooth, jazzy & intelligent, it's a crime that Basehead didn't make a big splash. God bless you Michael Ivey, wherever you are!
