5.0 out of 5 stars Transforming your Soul Wounds into Love and Health
This book is one of the most complete spiritual and health guides ever written. I am a 63 year old woman who has had the privilege of knowing Ron as a physical trainer and as a Preacher. He excels in both and has made a huge difference in my life. All you need do is hear him preach and hear how well he relates the words of the Bible to your own life, to know that this man...

2.0 out of 5 stars I Admire Pastor Ron's Faith And Fitness, But His Dietary Dogma Ignores The Latest Science
When I first heard about this book, I had such high hopes that it could contribute something useful to the diet and health of overweight and obese people who are looking to shed fat and restore their health close to the level natural bodybuilding champion, pastor, and author Ron Williams has achieved. Unfortunately, the "Biblical principles" (and I'm a Christian, so I...

5.0 out of 5 stars Transforming your Soul Wounds into Love and Health, May 27, 2009
This review is from: Faith & Fat Loss (Hardcover)
This book is one of the most complete spiritual and health guides ever written. I am a 63 year old woman who has had the privilege of knowing Ron as a physical trainer and as a Preacher. He excels in both and has made a huge difference in my life. All you need do is hear him preach and hear how well he relates the words of the Bible to your own life, to know that this man is dedicating his life to teaching people to heal their physical bodies, which in turn heals their souls. I had soul wounds from my childhood which caused a lot of pain and heartache in my life (including addictions, low self-esteem, and trust issues with men and God). Ron guided me to trust in God because he knew God was the only one who could transform me (I had read a million self-help and spiritual books and nothing helped). When I began trusting in God was when my life changed. I now have a quiet self-assurance, trust in men, and have stopped all of my addictive, destructive habits. His advice on never eating a protein alone (always eat a protein with a carbohydrate and an EFA) has changed my eating habits -- it is so easy. I was in a high-stressed business and because of being so busy it was too easy to eat food that was fast and not healthy. Since meeting Ron and working out with him, I have learned that simply walking and lifting weights at least three times a week has changed my body. I have the pulse of an athlete and no one ever guesses me even close to my age. I feel better than I have ever felt in my life -- spiritually, mentally, and physically.

5.0 out of 5 stars A no-gimmick natural way to transform your body, May 27, 2009

This review is from: Faith & Fat Loss (Hardcover)
Ron Williams and Faith and Fat Loss has transformed me. What can be better than teachings of faith to help transform the way we see food and our body temples? I have seen Ron speak in person, and read this book (a few times); and I am now the healthiest and happiest that I have ever been. I am a 40 year old female, and everyday I get told I look like, and have the energy of, a 25 year old.

Ron's teachings helped me to grow spiritually so I suddenly found that I wanted nothing more than to treat my body the best I possibly could. The information given in the book, all based on scientifically proven ways to loss fat, helped me to change my nutritional habits simply and CORRECTLY -a balance of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates combined with physical and spiritual exercise....it just sounds right, doesn't it?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Integration of Faith and Physical Fitness Today!, May 29, 2009
This review is from: Faith & Fat Loss (Hardcover)
Faith & Fat Loss My family has read many diet and fat loss books, and this is the finest I have ever read. I love the way Ron Williams shares his knowledge of the Bible with science with organic eating with exercise. I've never read anything better. His 21 day jump start will help anyone get right with their diet and their spiritual living. And Ron's section on Soul Wounds is profound!

This book is a spiritual eye opener to what is happening to us as we fill our bodies with addictive and harmful food-like products that taste good but are actually harmful. We have the proof of this as we look around at all the weight and health problems.

Very good and insightful.

2.0 out of 5 stars I Admire Pastor Ron's Faith And Fitness, But His Dietary Dogma Ignores The Latest Science, May 22, 2009
This review is from: Faith & Fat Loss (Hardcover)
When I first heard about this book, I had such high hopes that it could contribute something useful to the diet and health of overweight and obese people who are looking to shed fat and restore their health close to the level natural bodybuilding champion, pastor, and author Ron Williams has achieved. Unfortunately, the "Biblical principles" (and I'm a Christian, so I believe there are such practical life lessons to be learned from the Bible) he shares about in this book regarding diet are nothing more than the same old calories in, calories out, high-carb, low-fat diet and cardio exercise to lose weight concepts we've heard ad nauseam for the past several decades with abysmal results on obesity and disease.

Williams does do a great job pointing out many of the physical and spiritual barriers to weight loss that people encounter and I do believe it is important to address these conditions first and foremost before beginning on any diet routine. And he makes an excellent case for Christians to take their desire to burn fat and get healthy to God so He can help guide them and strengthen them in their efforts (something I myself experienced back in 2004 when I shed 180 pounds).

But my major point of disagreement with Faith & Fat Loss is how Williams blatantly disregards the growing body of new scientific evidence pointing to the tremendous weight and health benefits of carbohydrate restriction. Sure, he recommends eating a protein with your carbohydrates to allegedly slow the spike in your blood sugar, but Williams is stuck on the archaic notion that your body somehow needs carbohydrate for energy and health and that's just not true. Any basic look at the metabolic pathway by first-year medical students in their biochemistry class shows that a process called gluconeogenesis (where the liver creates glucose/carbs for energy in the body from the protein consumed) provides all the carbohydrates that someone needs to have the energy and healthy nutrition they need.

I can appreciate and respect the accomplishments that Pastor Ron Williams has made in his own life physically and spiritually, but he's assuming that his low-fat, high-carb nutritional plan is the ONLY right way to get healthy and fit. But when evidence to the contrary exists not just anecdotally in people like me, but deeply rooted in the science of our time, I would think God would want people to find which plan will work best for them. Wouldn't you agree Pastor Williams?
