Every Christian Home Should Own One!,
By Pastor Dan Pugh (Madison, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Faith To Grow On: Important Things You Should Know Now That You Believe (Hardcover)
It's has always been my hope that parents start building a strong understanding of theological truths in the lives of their children. This book is a great tool to do just that! I do believe that every home which owns and uses this book would benefit. An additional note: Although this book is targeted for the younger elementary age group, it can also be used with new believers who need to get acquainted with the basics. In this post-Christian era we live in, it's amazing how many adults don't know any of the content found in this childrens book.

It helps Children Understand God,
This review is from: A Faith To Grow On: Important Things You Should Know Now That You Believe (Hardcover)
My daughter got this book as a gift for Christmas. It was the best thing she received! A child has such a hard time understanding God, and what he means to our lives. This book explained so much to her. As she progressed through it, I could see the changes in her both mental and emotional. Some of the best chapters and segments were: Can we see God?; What does God want from us?; What should we do when we don't understand God?; Had God really lived forever?; Does God want me to be punished. The list could go on and on, but there is just not enough room to explain how much this will help your child. Some of the other chapters include wonderful segments and descriptions of: Creation, Sin, Bible History, Jesus, Salvation, Worship, Prayer, Church, Forgiveness, Evangelism, and Heaven.

Teach Your Children What They Need to Know,
This review is from: A Faith To Grow On: Important Things You Should Know Now That You Believe (Hardcover)
Catechism.
It's a word that many evangelicals don't even know the meaning of, let alone practice with their children. Consequently, a whole generation of young people in Christian homes are growing up without a whole-orbed understanding of what God has spoken to His people. Don't just assume that your children will somehow pick up everything they need to know about Christianity: John MacArthur has given us a valuable resource to help us teach our children simply but systematically the fundamentals of the faith. In about eighty devotions subdivided into sections on God, Creation, Sin, the Bible, Jesus, Salvation, Worship, Prayer, Church, Forgiveness, Evangelism, & Heaven, Dr. Macarthur covers what every young person needs to know. Each devotion begins with a question, like "What should we do when we don't understand God?" A paragraph-sized answer with Scripture verses, a word scramble, a short prayer, and a suggested activity explain what the Bible says. Well written, this book can be used as a personal devotion by a young reader or as the basis for family devotions, as I have used the book for years. Highly recommended.

Best children's devotional I've found,
By
This review is from: A Faith to Grow On (Hardcover)
So many Christian children get lost beyond the "Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins" line they hear over and over again as young children, but then they never go deeper into their Christian faith than that.
In this book, MacArthur does an excellent job of laying out the foundations of our Christian faith. As a parent -- and especially as a father -- I try to be diligent in presenting the Christian faith to my three children. This devotional is an excellent resource in explaining to our children what we believe in as Christians and why we believe it. If you are a parent, or even a Sunday School or Children's Church teacher, who wants to explain the foundational principles of the Christian faith to children, this is the book you want!

Really wonderful, basic, BIBLICAL explanations of Christianity 101 for kids! Nice also that it has the little word scrambles - my 7-year-old engages with those! Wonderful explanations (I've learned a lot, too!)

This little book has all core theological questions that you could discuss with your children. Those questions help us to have a new daily subject that we talk with our kids.

Just what I needed to walk my 3 and 7-year-old through the "big" questions about God. MacArthur is fantastic, even for adults, and although I differ on some eschatalogical points, on the essentials, he teaches right where I am (and we don't really get into the other stuff much in this anyway). I recommend it any day!

This has been the biggest help I have found for our family. We are all new Christians and I have an 8 and 9 year old so this answered all the questions they had and many of my own as well. This book was a blessing!!! It is perfect for any child from ages 7-12 and I strongly recommend it!!!
