Heart warming, Heart breaking and well awesome!,
By Akina Vasil (Pittsburgh, Pa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Faith in a Long Shot (Thoroughbred #57) (Paperback)
I just finshed Faith in a Long Shot and all I can say is WOW! I had my copy reserved and under the desk, ready for my mother to go and pick it up that night. I quickly devoure the book shortly after I had it in my hands, finshing it in just 2 days.I could practically feel the tension mounting with the Derby coming up and this IS the Derby book. I will not give much away, but all I can say is wow. All I am going to tell about the book is Melanie DEFINATELY races Image in the Derby and she is scared that she will lose her friendship with Christinia. Also, I will add many people whom hated Brad will have a new respect for him, because I certainly do. What he did for Melanie was incredible. It was a heart warming story. I cried towards the end of the book This was worth the buy, definately better than the past ones, all Thoroughbred fans will enjoy it. Also, it seems a relationship with Mel and Jazz sprouts. I enjoyed this book, it was awesome, worth the wait and the buy. It felt like I was right there with Mel.

Nice twist,
By "horsecrazy91" (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Faith in a Long Shot (Thoroughbred #57) (Paperback)
This book did very well by adding a slight twist to the series, but it wasn't my favorite because I don't think Star should have lost so badly. I also am not really fond of Melanie anymore. Once she and Christina started fighting, I began losing interest in her character because Christina has been pretty much my fave (along with Parker).

The next Ruffian!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Faith in a Long Shot (Thoroughbred #57) (Paperback)
Way to go Image! Persanlly, I'm glad Star got his Just Deserts! He deserved to lose. It would have been better though if Star had been able to really challenge Image, but still lose, proving that Image was better!!!!! Yeah, that would have been cool. A battle to the wire! Eye to eye!!! All, in all a great book! Buy it if you wanted to see Image win or Star get his butt kicked big time!!!! Too bad Image won't be able to win the Triple Crown. Hey, auther, at least let Jinx win it! And I think Jinx should be the one bred to Image, not Star or Celtic Mist!!! Once he's done racing, of course!!

The Derby was the best,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Faith in a Long Shot (Thoroughbred #57) (Paperback)
I think that this book was a jolly good lift to the series. I've been reading the Thoroughbred books lately, and the last few were a little bolicks. The Derby was a brilliant race, and I'm glad that Image won because the deserved it. It also had a twist in it when Image broke her leg. That part was sad. The only down side to the book was the fact that Chris was being a real jerk, and I wish that she'd smarten up a little.

One of My favorites!,
This review is from: Faith in a Long Shot (Thoroughbred #57) (Paperback)
I think this book is great. The only reason I only gave it four stars is because of how the other characters act. Christina, who's usually nice(NOT BRATTY!!!) acts cold and distant. Ashleigh is completely different than she usually is! I also didn't like what place Star got. I'm not going to tell you, but he deserves better! Gratis got a good place, which makes me happy. I was actually crying at the end! This is a book you should not miss out on!

AWESOME!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Faith in a Long Shot (Thoroughbred #57) (Paperback)
...Now I'll ...tell you that this IS ONE OF THE BEST Thoroughbred books!! Mel and Christina have a HUGE misunderstanding and things get really tense, so Mel goes to Townsend Acres for a while, at Parker's suggestion. I don't want to ruin this book for anyone, so I'll just say it's got a lot of ups and downs, plus one absolutely amazing ending!!(It even allows for the romance!!)

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD BOOK!!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Faith in a Long Shot (Thoroughbred #57) (Paperback)
This book was so good! It was about the Kentucky Derby, what do ya know! :) One reason why I really liked this book it because it doesn't have a lot of dating in it. Finally! One reason I disliked it was because Brad was NICE! Can you beleive it! I mean, it good that he's being nice, but he isn't supposed to be! He's supposed to be arrogant! Anyway, besides that this book was really good! Here is what it's about:When Image comes in second in the Florida Derby Melanie and Jazz are overjoyed. With high hopes, they decide to enter her to race in the Kentucky Derby. Image proved in the Florida Derby she has what it takes to win against colts. But her competition at the derby will be really tough. Image will be running against Christina's Wonder's Star, Cindy's Gratis, and Brad's Celtic Mist. Winning the race is a long shot. To add to the presure the racing reporters are making a huge deal because a filly and a girl are racing in the Derby. Ashleigh and Mike, Melanie's Aunt and Uncle who own Whitebroook farm where Melanie lives, get frusterated and annoyed because the phone starts ringing off the hook and reporters attack the farm. Does Melanie have enough faith in Image, and herself, to make her derby dreams come true? Read the book to find out what happens in the Kentucky Derby! (the book doesn't end at the KD though, it has a really cool ending)

A Kid's Review

I liked this book a lot, but I was very disapointed that Star lost pretty badly. I LOVE Chris and Star (why does everyone think that Christina is bratty?!?) I already knew that Image and Mel were going to win even before I read this book because I had read "Christina's Shining Star" and "Star's Inspiration" first. If you LOVE Mel and Image, this book is for you!

ok, i really liked this book and it IS the Derby. but, there are some things that i didnt like: 1st of all, Ashleigh would never act like that to Mel. She acted like Mel was a Townsend and she totallt hated her! and, not to mention, everybody seemed to hate Mel and doubted Image! And Chris's attitude--Brad seemed to give his attitude to Chris and he took hers! And, it was so0o0o0o0o0o nice what Brad did for Mel. He was actually pretty nice for her--and others--and I think I'm growing to like him--little by little. Jazz and Mel seemed to be the ONLY ones who cared about Image and knew she would win--Will and Susan too. But Mike was the only one who didnt seem mad at Mel...weird. But Chris was a total jerk! I'm growing to hate her EVEN MORE! However...this book was sad. I cried at the end. And I'm sure that others will cry, too. But I DO RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! if you're a true TB series reader...GET THIS BOOK! |
