5.0 out of 5 stars Faith Ringgold excellent for middle school classroom, October 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Faith Ringgold: The Last Story Quilt (Portrait of an Artist Series) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Contemporary African-American artist Faith Ringgold tells how she first became an artist and the adversities which she overcame to pursue her career. Personable, articulate and focused on her topic, Ms. Ringgold emphasizes the importance of determination and how really wanting a goal can overcome any number of obstacles. Interspersed with black and white film of Harlem during her youth and contains samples of her art. Ends with a "rap" by Ms. Ringgold on the importance of pursuing one's dream. Excellent classroom video (28 minutes; simple but eloquent language) for upper elementary and middle school students, in art and/or urban classrooms.
