Editorial Reviews

The author skillfully ties the concept of sexual purity, whether married or single, to the idea of faithfulness on a spiritual level. How one chooses to behave sexually, Kim Cash Tate seems to be saying, directly relates to one's trust in God. And the strength of one's relationship with God directly relates to how one handles temptation and betrayal. Tate communicates the subtleties of married sexuality with taste and insight. ...Whether in life-stage, race, gender or occupation, there was a rich variety among the main characters and their guys. ...Tate avoids the unrealistic "happily ever after" ending while still offering a message of faith, hope, and love. Readers will not be disappointed at this latest addition to the Women of Faith Fiction line.

Excellent story telling, and character development!
The characters seemed so real, and I felt like anyone could relate to a character in the book.
Thank you Kim for this awesome book that will remind any reader of the faithfulness of God.

At its core "Faithful" by Kim Cash Tate is about three women whose belief in God's faithfulness is being tested. Cyd is single and turning 40 on the day her younger sister is getting married. When the best man sweeps her off her feet, Cyd is torn between impulses and waiting for the man she knows is right for her. Meanwhile her friend Dana discovers her husband is having an affair. Though he apologizes and says he wants their marriage to work, she must decide whether or not to trust him. At the same time Phyllis' husband is antagonistic towards her faith, and when she meets a man who loves God and treats her well, she has to decide where her heart should be.

I really appreciated this book. Though I am not in the life stage of any of these women I can relate to the sentiment of wondering where God is at and whether or not he will be as faithful as he has promised to be. Furthermore, Tate captures church culture spot on: the humor, the terminology, even the hypocrites. It didn't feel fake, like people running around on pristine beaches. It felt like something my friends could be experiencing.

Frankly, I don't really care for romances. But the title intrigued me, so I read it. To my surprise, it was a page turner, and several nights I caught myself thinking, "I simply must go to bed, but maybe I'll just read one more chapter..."

Full disclosure: I was sent this book for free in return for a review.

Faithful is the story of three woman and their struggles to remain faithful to the promises they made to themselves and to God.
I wanted to like this book... and I did like parts of this book, but overall I think I would just rate this book as "okay." The main problem I had with this book is it seemed liked everything in life was puppies and rainbows once a character found God, or gave their problems to God.

A wife finds out her husband - who happens to be a Christian leader within their home church - is having an affair with another member of their church. She cries for a couple of days, gives her problem to God and realizes she has forgiven her husband and no longer feels bitter.

A man who is a player doesn't have a problem with sex before marriage. Throughout the book he tries to date a strong Christian woman and tries to convince her break her vows of sex before marriage. After one bible study (that he joined to be with this woman), he gives himself to God and no longer questions or doubts what he once believed.

This book made me think about what I was I doing wrong... I do have faith. I do pray and I do try to give my problems to God. Even so, sometimes I do feel bitter; I do still question and do still have problems.

I think the book would have been better if it wasn't such a "happily ever after" for each character of the book. I am not saying that with being faithful to God and God's plan, life can not be great; I just think that even if you are faithful, problems sometimes are not always easily erased and emotions are not always wiped perfectly clean. But then again, maybe I am not faithful enough??

When I opened Faithful by Kim Cash Tate for the first time, I never expected it to suck me in as hard as it did. I read half the book in two days, and I became so wrapped up in it that I had to literally force myself to put it down and live my own life!

The individual and entwined stories of Cydney, Dana and Phyllis made me think of my own girlfriends, appreciate my marriage, and see God's love through all things -- even in the most trying times of life.

Tate fleshes out the stories of these three women who are all at different stages of life -- one single at 40, one dealing with an unfaithful husband, and another struggling with her husband's lack of faith in God -- with a care and realism that can be hard to find in any type of fiction, much less in romantic fiction. Furthermore, the religious side of the book never felt heavy-handed. It is instead woven into the plot line with an ease and realism that I really appreciated, and that also made it a key factor in each woman's story.

I was drawn into the story completely, always wanting to know what happened next, wanting to see how these women dealt with each of their "issues." The characters became like friends to me, and I found myself going through their many emotions right along with them. That fact alone is the mark of a great book and a talented author. As such, this book is definitely the a short list of books I am sure to read again and again in the future!

I was truly, honestly, blown away by this book!

While I had high hopes for a title & author I'd never heard of before... simply due to the Women of Faith endorsement, I had no idea what I was in for, but God sure did!

Drawing for true to life characters, scenarios, and sincere struggles... there is a little something here for everyone's life, heart, and need. Yet they are all so intricately woven, and none more prominent or important than the other, I'm still astounded at the beautiful balance in the story-telling. Through the most intensely dramatic moments I found my heart racing, tears welling, and if I could convince myself to set the book down for any period of time my mind and prayers were very much asking how I might respond... how I might support others... how I might be affected... in such severity myself.

I love reading about real people... real people messing up... real people, who don't just plod along without responding... real people who can only be redeemed by a very real faith in a very real God.
