Review

'A must read for anyone who has a sexual addiction. Pastors, counselors, and lay leaders will also greatly benefit from it....Highly recommended.' (Enrichment journal) --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

From the Back Cover

Most Christians are quick to link sexual integrity with holiness. Clean thoughts and actions are important to God and to us. Yet for many, maintaining a wholesome, biblical sexuality seems hopelessly beyond reach. Such people's deeply ingrained patterns of thought and behavior keep them stuck on a treadmill of sin, even as they long for a walk of purity. Faithful and True offers a path that leads beyond compulsive thoughts and behaviors toward sexual integrity and self-control. Sensitive to the shame of sexual addiction without minimizing its sinfulness, Dr. Mark Laaser: - traces the roots of sexual addiction in families and in culture - shows how sexual sin poisons the lives of pastors and laypeople alike - provides a complete 12-step program for treatment and recovery from sexual addiction. You may be the spouse, pastor, family member, or friend of someone with a sexual addiction. Of you yourself may struggle with urges you've not been able to overcome. Regardless, hope and help are at hand. Faithful and True steers you over the rocky but navigable road to understanding, wholeness, and holiness.

This book hits the nail on the head by dealing with the roots of sexual addiction and giving practical steps toward recovery. If you are ready to be free, then do the hard work of examining your childhood for any abuse or neglect, whether real or perceived, and you'll discover the lies you tell yourself to find comfort in impurity. This is where the real challenge is because we are so afraid of feeling that pain again. But I'm here to tell you that the path to healing is through the pain and discomfort of processing those experiences. Know this...emotional pain will not kill you but the addiction will. You will need help from others to do this but you can and you must do it to rid yourself of this demon. The book gives you all the info and direction to do this.

After discovering my husband's pornography addiction I read this book. If you want to understand what sexual addiction is all about, this is a must read. It is a straight forward education regarding the three building blocks of this addiction. You won't be able to read it all at once as some truths are hard to digest. After years of being lied to and manipulated, my eyes are now opened and I will always be grateful to the author of this book for getting this information out and offering hope to the hopeless.

This book will help anyone who wants to understand and heal from sexual addiction. After 32 years of marriage, I found out my husband was a sexual addict. I was so broken and have been desperate to understand my husband's behavior. Mark Laasar, a recovered sexual addict, does an excellent job of explaining how someone can become a sexual addict, and how a person can recover and heal from the wounds that caused it. I am so grateful for this resource! My husband is now reading it. My husband is in a 12-step Celebrate Recovery program and sees a counselor. As Mr. Laasar points out, there is hope, help, and healing for sexual addiction.

Excellent book with solid Spiritual and Psychological foundations. The work book that can be bought separately is a very good tool for recovery as well. This book gives the process and the thoughts behind the process of healing from a sexual addiction.

This book is by far the best I've read on this subject. It doesn't dance around language or issues, but hits the subject head on with Biblical principles. I'd recommend this book (and have) to anyone suffering from sexual addiction.

Fabulous book. Beautifully explains the roots of as well as the pain involved in sexual addictions. Gives hope for those who struggle with this and would help friends and family to understand at least in part, what the addict is dealing with. This book recognizes sin as sin, but does so with a spirit of love and not condemnation. It is honest and inspiring.

Excellent! It may not be the "end all" book, but it does help you begin to understand the addiction. In doing that, it helps the family help each other, hopefully. One of the best parts of the book is in the back. It tells of other sources of help, books, organizations, treatments centers and other things. It gives testimony to the fact that this addiction can be managed one day at a time and eventually you will have more good days behind you than bad days. It gave me hope for my son.
