There are some wonderful Bible Apps out there. YouVersion, Tecarta, OliveTree, BibleIs, etc, etc. But Logos stands alone for Bible Study ability. Why? The ability to access a library of resources and the ability to do searches and other studies make this the App it is. Many needed features are in the works currently (such as note taking, marking, etc, etc).

The most unique feature of Logos for Android is the ability to access the Logos Cloud of purchased (and some free) resources and books that you can also access on your desktop. If you already have a Logos or Libronix library, you will be able to access those resources on your Android device (unless there is a restriction by the publisher). Note: if you don't want to do Bible Study, but merely read Christian books, then Logos has another app called Vyrso, which has an even simpler interface and allows you to download ebooks in Logos's library (very much like the Logos for Android app here, but without the bells and whistles).

Good news, as of November 24, this app works well with the new Kindle Fire.

If all you want is to access the Bible on your device and read passages, then the Logos App is probably not your go-to app. If you want to do Bible Study and read a library of resources on the go, then Logos for Android is your MUST HAVE app.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lot to like, a little room to improve December 4, 2011
Verified Purchase
I have been using the full PC version of Logos for a few years now, and enjoy it quite a bit. I have used it almost daily since I purchased it. For my money, there's no better PC software package out there for a theology geek ;-) So that's one of the reasons why I was excited to install the Logos software on my android so I could take my extensive Logos library and functionality with me on a mobile device. However, there is one thing that I think could be improved: I would like to have the text-to-speech option available like what my Logos 4 PC version provides, as I would like to be able to listen to the Bible or one of the books in my library from time to time on my mobile device. If these issues are addressed, I will gladly increase my rating from 4 stars to 5.

Edited: removed my (now obsolete) reference to not being able to remove/change the default Bible translation. Logos has since updated the app to allow for this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Choice for a Bible Study App November 3, 2011
By Phil
I'm excited to have access to the thousands of titles in my Logos library on my Android phone (HTC Evo) and Android tablet (ASUS Eee Pad Transformer). The Android app is a bit behind the iOS app, but it's incredibly useful in its current state. The reading experience is excellent. The typography is superb and makes reading a pleasure. I'm looking forward to the fully featured version with annotating and highlighting and some tablet-specific UI and functionality as well. Integration with Logos for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Biblia.com makes Logos the best choice for a Bible study app. Oh, and it comes with 60+ free books, too.

(Full disclosure: I work at Logos, but I also love and use our products. In fact, I love them so much that I decided to work for the company that makes them.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Logos Kindle Fire Review September 25, 2012
By Jeremy

Since I have owned my Kindle, the Logos app has undergone at least one major change. The app has a clean, simple design, but it still takes a little getting used to for an L4 user (though many of the features are parallel features); however, once you know your way around program, it works well. There are some flaws to the program still at this point. When working offline (at least on the Kindle Fire version), sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries to start-up the Logos app properly, that is without a black screen that merely says "error" at the top. Unfortunately, this is usually the time when I most need it (i.e. in Bible class / worship / listening to a sermon, etc.). One can easily fall behind a bit waiting for the program to respond properly to the offline mode. Additionally, the word study function does not work offline - another thing I'd like to see changed in the future. When I listen to a sermon on a particular text this feature would be most helpful. I noticed also that when I open my copy of the UBS4 interlinear and follow along in the NT, the Louw-Nida numbers are not linked to the actual dictionary (both resources I have downloaded for offline use). I have to memorize the Louw-Nida number, then manually open the dictionary (or lexicon if you prefer) and find the number. When online and I click on the Louw-Nida number, the program begins to think - usually the first click on a particular Greek word might make the program "think" for about a minute or more and I'll have to cancel out, but the following "clicks" will yield results in just a couple of seconds.
Though there are some problems still at this point (& wanting features), using the Logos app is still far superior to having the print books, I guess I got too spoiled using my L4 for just about everything.

3.0 out of 5 stars Logos on Kindle Fire Review October 13, 2012

I downloaded Logos and Olive Tree to my Kindle Fire. I find that off-line Olive Tree's program does much more. It allows you to read the Bible and the Strongs number at the same time. When I downloaded Logos to my Kindle Fire I thought I would be able to do searches and use my Passage Guide and other feratures, but it seems no special features are available if one is off-line. It is only useful as a Bible. Maybe I am using it wrong, but I found that to be disappointing.
