4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a little fresh development
After the last book, I was really down. Fearless just wasn't what it used to be. Granted it still isn't, but this one was at least better than the previous few. We finally get some new plot developments in every area:

Loki has officially returned. This time he is using Jake as his operative and things don't look too good. If Jake doesn't start doing things...

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a little fresh development, September 18, 2004
This review is from: Fake (Fearless #34) (Mass Market Paperback)
After the last book, I was really down. Fearless just wasn't what it used to be. Granted it still isn't, but this one was at least better than the previous few. We finally get some new plot developments in every area:

Loki has officially returned. This time he is using Jake as his operative and things don't look too good. If Jake doesn't start doing things right and getting information, Loki might just do to Jake what he does to every operative that fails.

Gaia doesn't understand why she is so attracted to Skyler but she is. He seems to always know how to comfort her and with him her fear isn't that bad. Gaia totally erupts in anger when Jake tries to accuse Skyler of using Gaia and plotting against her. How could Jake suggest those things? Things are definitely changing in their relationship but that not the only big surprise. By accident Gaia realizes something: Her fearlessness has come back.(I was so glad with this development. Gaia with fear just isn't Gaia:)

Skyler thinks he has got all the cards. Gaia seems totally reliant on him and for once he seems to be God. Can he keep it up?

Sam and Heather once again are non-existent. The FOHs are still plotting to split Gaia and Jake, though they might not have to anymore since Gaia and Jake seem to have already broken themselves up. Ed is going with Kai to the prom, though he can't stop worrying about Gaia.

The last few chapters of the book were great. We finally get the old Gaia back!! The first few chapter, I could have done without. Hopefully the next book will be even better. Only 3 more left to go. I'm exited!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fake (Book 36), July 27, 2004
This review is from: Fake (Fearless #34) (Mass Market Paperback)
I thought this was one of the better books because it doesn't tell you everything about what's going on. We find out the there's more to Skyler then he letting on. Skyler kisses Gaia a number of times to make her trust him and it works. But you only find that out if you read the little notes in the middle of each chapter. Jake doesn't know what to thing, like right after Gaia confronts him and tell him about her and Skyler. Jake is getting more and more confused about her. Loki's men are still around Gaia getting information. But he still doesn't know about Gaia's little appointment with the doctor in Normal (Book 31). Loki does believe that "they" did something to his niece's DNA but he still doesn't know what. Sam, Ed, and Gaia's father Tom Moore don't really have anything in this book. Ed is in the book but he's not really in Gaia's life right now. Gaia starts to find out all thought she had thought Skyer had saved her life a number of times she findds out that she was the one that saved herself from one of those events. She then finds out that she wasn't really afraid after nearly getting hit by a car. She decides to test her theory by picking a fight. She beats then to the ground with a smile on her face. Fearless Gaia is back. So with her fearfullness gone she starts to go over her life and thinks more about Skyler and Jake. By the end of this book Gaia's questioning her friendship/relationship with Skyler. (I hope she beats him up big time).

The series is coming to a conclusion (just a few books left) but Gaia's life is still a mess. She has taken refuge with Skyler Rodke at the end of the last book. She is still with him and getting manipulated. Skyler is definitely moving his plans forward while the other main cat members are trying to find out what is going on.

Jake - Worried about Gaia and what Skyler might be up to. Relationship with Gaia hits some snags.

Ed - Out of the hospital and feeling fine. Still thinks about Gaia all the time and wonders about changes he has seen and heard about.

Loki - Looking out for Gaia and using Jake as an agent. Seems to deal harshly with incompetence.

Skyler - Wants to be in control of Gaia and her abilities. Sees this as a route to real power. Uses psychology to try and bind her to him.

FOHs - Out for revenge on Gaia and spreading nasty rumors. Hope to ruin Gaia.

D - Yes, Gaia's elusive brother from Gaia Abducted puts in a cameo.

Gaia - Reliant on Skyler at first. Angry at Jake and anyone else who seems to be unconcerned about her. Also notices that her fearfulness is gone. Fearless Gaia is back.

It is good to see Gaia back in fit fearless form and taking on the scum of the park. Not sure how the series will wind up but I am still interested in finding out.

November, the last book #36 Gone. It's sad, but I believe Pascal will end it well and it'll be great so I'm trying not to get too hung up on it. Anyway this book was great. A lot of people I've found are disliking the fearful Gaia but I love it. It adds something fresh to the books, a different way of seeing her life now, through fearful eyes. This book was plain awesome and interesting and I wont ruin it but I think people will enjoy what happens at the end so there.
