About the Author

Stefan Petrucha, script
Stefan Petrucha's been writing comics and novels for - whoa! A really, really long time. A lot of his stuff tends to be pretty scary, like Topp's X-Files comic, or his graphic novel, Kolchak: The Devil in the Details (which was nominated for a Stoker award in 2003!), but then again he's also written over 150 Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck comics for Egmont Publishing in Denmark. He's also signed a four book deal with Penguin's new teen imprint, Razorbill, to revive his incredibly cool comic creation, Squalor, in novel form. He lives in Westchester County, NY with his two daughters, Maia and Margo (both of whom he hopes will be reading these Nancy Drew graphic novels), and his wife and fellow writer, Sarah.

Sho (Sei) Murase, Illustration
Sho is half Japanese and half Korean but her first language is Spanish because she grew up in Spain. She moved from Europe to Vancouver and from Vancouver to Maverix Studios in California, where she works in animation and draws comics that won't leave her enough time to sleep. She is the author of "Sei, Death and Legend" published by Image Comics and is currently also working on her own graphic novel series "ME2" for Tokyopop.

More About the Author

Born in the Bronx, Stefan Petrucha spent his formative years moving between the big city and the suburbs, both of which made him prefer escapism.

A fan of comic books, science fiction and horror since learning to read, in high school and college he added a love for all sorts of literary work, eventually learning that the very best fiction always brings you back to reality, so, really, there's no way out.

An obsessive compulsion to create his own stories began at age ten and has since taken many forms, including novels, comics and video productions. At times, the need to pay the bills made him a tech writer, an educational writer, a public relations writer and an editor for trade journals, but fiction, in all its forms, has always been his passion. Every year he's made a living at that, he counts a lucky one. Fortunately, there've been many.

"The Fake Heir" is the second installment in the latest reincarnation of Nancy Drew, girl detective, based on the original series by Carolyn Keene. Nancy Drew, best friends Bess and Georgina, boyfriend Ned, and father Carson Drew have been reimagined into the high tech 21st century, in dramatic graphic novel format.

As the story opens, Nancy, Bess, and George get the ride of their lives when a lake suddenly drains into a sink hole. At the bottom, the girls discover a long missing yacht with a load of diamonds. Nancy's father seeks the rightful heirs, but our girl detective smells something amiss. A confusing trail leads to a case of suspicious identity and a person willing to do anything to get the diamonds. The solution will be right under Nancy's nose.

"The Fake Heir" is meant to appeal to the latest generation of Nancy Drew's young fans, and is recommended to that audience.

This graphic novel an interesting twist on the normal Nancy Drew stories as the teenage girl detective starts to think she's loosing her ability to solve a mystery. Story starts with a sink hole in the lake giving Nancy, her friends and foes alike having the worst toilet flush nightmare in their lives. She think her dad client that a heir to a fortune in jewels is suspicious and looks into the case but can't prove any real criminal activity. Even the police turn Nancy away despite her suspicion until it too late for Nancy and she ends up the person's captive.
