How much is one life worth?
In FAKING LIFE, internationally bestselling author Jason Pinter offers a ripped-from-the-headlines thriller that asks the ultimate question--that could cost three people their careers, their souls, and even their lives. John Gillis is a lifelong bartender looking to jump-start his stagnant existence after the death of a close friend by writing a raw, unvarnished memoir. Esther is an ambitious young woman searching for career inspiration and true love and believes in John she just might have found both. Nico Vanetti is a fading literary agent, a former King of Industry, who sees John Gillis as his meal ticket back to the top. Nico knows that in entertainment whatever bleeds, leads, and so in order to reap the millions he expects from John's story he'll do whatever it takes to manipulate John's life behind the scenes--even if it means forcing him to pay with his life.
FAKING LIFE is high-stakes novel of suspense that shows just how far people will go to alter reality--even if it comes at the ultimate price.

There was a great deal of typos and other errors which I normally overlook, but they were very noticeable in this publication. Not Pinter's greatest but it was still compelling.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too many mistakes! December 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book had so many mistakes it was hard to concentrate on the story. Every page had several. It looks like an editor had tried to delete and replace a phrase, but left random words from the old phrase that were so out of place, you had to go back and re-read the sentence to try to figure out what it meant. I'm glad it was only $.99, I would be really upset if I had paid more for this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Faking Life February 18, 2011
By FWS
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
John Gillis, 20 something college graduate into his seventh year as a "going nowhere" bartender in a trendy NYC bar, begins writing his memoirs after the death of one of his friends and coworkers. His beginning manuscript is accepted by Nico, a previously successful but now declining agent at the suggestion of his associate, Esther. Nico sees in John's writing an opportunity for a return to his previous level of success and financial gain while Esther is drawn to him romantically in addition to his talent. So begins this original and well written tale. The three main characters are complimented by finely drawn bit players in John and Esther's roommates. The plot twists and turns with Nico's manipulations and Esther's pursuit of John while hiding her association with the agency. Without giving away the story, things eventually begin to unravel at a fast pace, leading to a frightening and exciting finish. A wonderful read by a gifted author. Do not miss this one.
