Killer new sound!,
This review is from: Faktion (Audio CD)
This is the best CD Ive bought in years. It's so good I bought 3 more copies and gave them to my friends. The music is mindblowing, the lyrics are understandable and have meaning. Highly recommended album for anyone who likes great music. These guys are also amazing to watch/hear live as well.

Lost In The Mix,
By A. Estes (Maine) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Faktion (Audio CD)
I have to say, I was honestly expecting something better from Faktion's debut...
Now, don't get me wrong. Faktion are a good band, really talented with a good sound. Taking various contemporary styles from other bands (I hear a bit of Hoobastank, Lostprophets and Finch) and mixing it with an "anything goes" musical attitude that smells of 80's arena-rock, Faktion is something quite outside the norm. Despite the fact that the Hoobastankish single "Letting You Go" sounds a bit pandering, you'd be hard pressed to find any pure plagerism on this album, which in itself is an accomplishment these days. Faktion's self-titled debut was produced by Dark New Day frontman Brett Hestla, and as a frontman, he seems to have focused most of his energy on frontman Ryan Gibbs. Throughout the disc, the band sounds merely secondary, sometimes nearly lost in the mix (forget about even hearing any bass). And quite a shame that is, as the band (especially guitarists Marshal Dutton and Josh Franklin) show true proficiency. At times, the music is veering off in an unexpected direction, and yet it doesn't take control of the speakers quite like it should. I think this is just a simple case of poor mixing, but who knows. All I know is that this seriously drags down what could be a great listen. As for the actual songs, most of these can be hit singles if they really wanted it. I mean, for such a young band to put out songs these good and radio-ready and still make them interesting, is quite an accomplishment. Despite the shortcomings that I chose to dwell on throughout this review, I think Faktion have a bright future ahead of them. Any fan of modern alternative can appreciate this disc, and at a cheap asking price just about everywhere, it's surely worth picking up.

When I first heard of Faktion on myspace, I was skeptical. I've heard so many bands that sound the same on there, but Faktion is different. They have a sound I've not really heard in many bands. The cd hasn't left my cd player since I bought the cd awhile back. I'm in love with the songs on there, and can relate to a few of them. Distance is an awesome song!
I would recommend this cd to anyone on here..and I have recommended it to many of my friends! Supporting and loving Faktion! <3

I do not write many reviews for bands because most lack good albums. This is an exception. A solid disc that includes all aspects of what more rock bands should be. I am a drummer myself which makes me very particular in finding bands that are good. The sound quality of this disc is excellent; crisp, clean, clear.....very good sound. Great vocals,...no constant growling or screaming; it flows well with the music. Not some outta control metal. I can't think of a band to compare these guys to. That's a good thing.

The Next,
This review is from: Faktion (Audio CD)
Most fans of various music genres can enjoy this one as they combine elements of hard rock as well as a lighter alternative sound. Don't get this confused with mainstream rock, as Faktion has some good guitar parts that is combined with an impressive showcase of vocals. All the tracks shine on this one, but in particular Pilot, Distance, Maybe, and Take it Away make this album standout. Looking forward to the development of this up and coming band, as this album has proven to be one of the best albums out there right now.

Faktion takes "Control" of their new self titled album....,

This review is from: Faktion (Audio CD)
The long awaited, self titled debut album from Faktion is one album you'll want to make sure is in your music collection. The album showcases 5 individual talent's whom have molded into one tight fitting band featuring: Ryan Gibbs (Lead Vocals), Marshal Dutton (Guitar/Vocals), Josh Franklin (Guitar/Backing Vocals), Jeremy "Brink" Coan (Bass/Backing Vocals) and Jeremy Moore (Drums/Backing Vocals). The true meaning behind Faktion stands for "family" and in a sense so does their self titled album. It is one that can be shared and enjoyed by all music genres, young and old!
The opening song "Forgive Me" is one of many hard-driven, pulsating, rhythmic songs on the album as well as "Answers" and their first single "Take It All Away". Each one of these songs has a strong backbone represented by the mesmerizing sound of the melodic bass guitar and the substantial, meteoric and hard hitting drumming. Not to get carried away with the hard stuff, Faktion will then bring it down a notch with the soothing combination of rhythm dual guitar playing along with the eloquent lead vocals in songs such as, "Distance", "Pilot" and "Six O' Clock" just to name a few. This is a well produced album, one in which the members of Faktion should be proud of in the end. Faktion has a wide range of fans that are 100% supportative, loyal and dedicated in helping them fulfill their dreams. This album showcases that dedication, sacrifice and determination the band put into making the best album for their fans! I recommend you stop reading this review and go buy this album, because once you start listening you won't be able to stop and you'll be "Always Wanting More". Faktion is on tour now with Hinder and Theory Of A Deadman, you can check out their tour dates aby going to www.faktionband.com or www.myspace.com/faktiondallas. And if you get the opportunity to see Faktion on tour, they really are a great group of guys who in the end treats all their fans as if you were a Faktion "family" member.

Great rock album! Big choruses combined with stellar guitar work leave you feeling refreshed from the same old nu metal rehashes or the EMO garbage that the labels have been churning out. A definite must buy!

Faktion's album is definitely a great album to rock out to. This entire album is a fine example of the talent of each member of the band. I highly recommend Faktion to anyone and everyone who appreciates and enjoys the heavy and the soft side of rock!

Not much to really say here. A solid album from the upcoming back froM Dallas, TX. Probably the best thing I've heard of 2006. Nice twists of redoing many of the older demos. I am not dissapointed in any way. This CD is still in my car everytime I drive, it's just a solid record. Wish you all the best and hope to see you in concert as I head north.

A radical new sound...,

Faktions self titled debut album will rock the hell out of anyone who hears it. With the new hit single "Take it all away" as the third track, you hear a great lead in of fresh music before they hit you with something you've already heard before.
The vicious vocals of "Always Wanting More" contrast greatly with the light remorse of "Distance" and vengeful growls of "Maybe". All of which are great songs by themselves, but together they demonstrate the bands amazing range of style and depth of creativity. This album makes an excellente addition to any collection, especially when held by fans of Punk or Hard Rock. Even still, fans of Ten Years, Shinedown, Hinder and Ra will all feel a beautiful fondness and almost unnoticed familiarity with this album. My ear predicts these songs will easily become a fan favorite for many years to come. |
