The Weakerthans are another in a long list of Canadian indie acts that don't get their just due in the U.S. For this album, they replace the vocals of frontman John Samson with another unjustly unheralded Canadian act, singer/songwriter Jim Bryson (although Samson is still very much a part of this album). I loved Samson's high, urgent voice, but Bryson gives this album a quieter tone without taking away the urgency that has long been part of the Weakerthans music. The songs are all strong -- not a throwaway among 'em. This will get serious consideration on my Ten Best list for the year.

I think this is a very good album that resembles a typical weakerthans albums in a lot of ways. At first i found myself wondering why John Sampson wasn't singing but once I got over that I enjoyed the album very much.
