The Rock World's Best Kept Secret,
By
This review is from: Fall As Well (Audio CD)
In a world where people with no real musical talent can win awards just by learning a few power cords and complaining about their childhood this is where the future of music should reside: within the caring sounds of Fall As Well.
Taking five parts of a musical puzzle and weaving harmony through the tracks on this disk that are not only incredible, but also pleasing to the ear. With such varying topics as infedelity in "Watson",the alternate realities of "Harbour Lights", the search for lost innocence in "Lazy Eye", and the political tirade of "The Burining" this is more of the full album mentality of the great rockers of old. Each verse tells a story. Every lick has reason. The range of emotions run the gamut while experiencing this ode to a world of decay, from deep depression to giddy excitement. The most giddy excitement you will experience will be knowing that this is just the beginning. This will be the first of what I hope will be a long collaboration. I have been listenng to this since I recieved it and the disc is still in my stero now. Buy this...you will not be sorry.

Check these guys out!,

I have been checking out this band Fall as Well, and I gotta tell you it is refreshing to finally here some quality rock music. I can't take the CD out of my stereo! These guys have it all...from their great lyrics, savy musical sound, to a wide variety of musical instrument selections to suit anyone's likings. Think The Doors, which is the lead singer's lyrical and musical inspiration, meets Velvet Revolver. The smooth sexy flow of the singer's voice sends you chills, while the bass and drums are a true symbol of what real rock should sound like...HARD!!! I also got the chance to check these guys out live, and just like the CD, their sound live is well worth giving your ears a listen. Their on stage presentation is awesome, and ladies, their look at potential is a 10. Check out their CD and play "Lazy Eye"...this is a song for the summer! These guys are a guareented hit, there ARE GOING TO BE BIG!

Hard driving rockers with a future.,

I have been listening to this cd for months now and Fall as Well continues to hold me spellbound. Their sound is all their own. The song Watson really gets to me....I can never listen to it just once, I'll play it over and over and over. It goes right for your heart and grabs hold... it is the most amazing and beautiful song I've heard in a very long time. Lazy Eye is fresh and wonderful. Dead and Growing Older and Drained are hard driving and heart pounding, guaranteed rockers. Fall as Well is an awesome rock band that is absolutely phenomenal live. A group with a promising future.

The Good
"Dead and Growing Older" kicks things off with crunchy power chords and thick palm muting. An intricate bass line sets the pace for the verses, while the crunch returns for the choruses. Vocalist Jarrod Parker doesn't have the strongest voice in rock music, but its low-register, melodic tone fits the music well on "Lazy Eye". Jarrod throws in a couple of catchy guitar licks to help draw you into his story of regret. Drawing from his second grade music class and probably the movie Titanic, Parker highlights "Harbor Lights" with recorder progressions. Oddly enough it blends well with the hard rock riffs and arpeggios. Percussive effects and subtle instrumentation only add to the dark and ominous feel of "Drained". Fall As Well breaks out a megaphone and some funky rap-rock vocals on "The Burning". "Bela Went Home" is an emotional acoustic ballad that has a folk-rock appeal to it. The Bad A little boring at times due to consistent tempo and arrangements. The Verdict Fall As Well's debut is a standard, by-the-book, modern rock album. I would have liked to hear them mix up the tempo a bit. I thought that the progressive elements were cool, but not utilized enough.

I am going to totally agree with Zeldie. Fall As Well's music absolutely has a way of wrapping around you and pulling you in. There is an abundance of creativity that you don't find in a lot of the newer bands on the scene. You can feel every word that Jarrod sings and every note the band plays. They are an AWESOME band to see live!!!! FAW was signed to Imprint for a (very good) reason. Knowing Todd Harrell and his wife was just a bonus! GO BUY THIS CD!!!! It is absolutely worth it! It has not come out of my car yet!!!!

I heard "Lazy Eye" as a single and really liked it. The version on this CD is different (not that big of a deal) and the rest of the CD is pretty boring. I have nothing HARSH to say about the guys (unlike some others that have posted here) other than I really don't care for this CD at all. Whoever did the remix for Lazy Eye totally saved the song... Consider using him/her again...

Hard Working Hard Hitting Band,
By
This review is from: Fall As Well (Audio CD)
I am a die-hard FAW fan and have been for a long time. I can say that these guys are a must see band. They put on a hard rocking show and the CD really does not do them justice, but it will at least give a clue as to the talent involved here. I wonder if the guy that gave the 1st review has ever tried to play a recorder???? Give it a try sometime...see how well YOU could do on it. I would like to also say, that while "who you know" might help to open a door or two, if you can't hold your own in the dog eat dog music world it will not make any difference. These guys are all talented and together make a HUGH sound. Could it be possible that "1st review person" is a BIT envious????? Listen to the CD and come to your own conclusion. By the way these guys have WORKED for several years to reach this point...no overnight instant sucess, but instead steady and focused hard work.

Stop writing fixed reviews on this "music",

this has to be one of the worst bands and cd's I have ever listened to in my entire life. Not only is the music not catchy or powerful, the band is a bunch of no talented wannabees. This just goes to show that if you know the bass player for 3 doors down's wife, you too can get a record deal. Just go watch these guys live and witness the reality of the music industry being manipulated and going down in flames...oh yeah, and put the stupid recorder away...you are supposed to be "rock" stars right?

Terrible album,
By Tim Harvey "Tim Harvey" (Georgi) - See all my reviews

The production quality is horrible. The songs suck and have no hooks except for Lazy Eye. Apparently someone helped them write Lazy Eye (see songwriting credit in cover). I can't imagine this band having any success (at least not on this effort). The singer is really weak, no studio magic here. All in al,l a terrible album.
