AMERICAN GENERAL AND JOURNALIST CAPTURED AS CAMP FALLS., March 22, 2009
This review is from: Fall Of Camp A-555 (Vietnam Ground Zero) (Paperback)
THE FALL OF CAMP A-555, OR Triple Nickle, is the 4th book in the VIETNAM: GROUND ZERO series from GOLD EAGLE books. As with the ones preceding it, the focus is on the Vietnam War and Special Forces Camp A-555. The camp is situated out in the boonies only a few 'klicks' from the Cambodian border.
The camp, therefore, has been the focus of the Viet Cong and NVA intent to capture the camp and wipe out its defenders. Their chance to do just that happens, but with traitors having been placed inside, the camp will fall not so much from without as from within. The storyline then becomes one of personalities captured within the camp and personalites without who are working to retake the camp.
With its usual good plot and writing any of the books in the GOLD EAGLE series makes for great action/adventure reading. As the blurb on the books states, "Eric Helm is the pen name of two Vietnam veterans, men who were there and who now tell it like it was.".
Interested in a fictional treatment of the Vietnam conflict with many factual items thrown in? Can do no better than these 30 books in the Vietnam: Ground Zero series.
