Asian girl has fun playing in the leaves! Great beginner's book only has 15 words., June 26, 2009
This story is about a young Asian little girl who has to rake some leaves. She looks none too happy to be doing so. But the girl discovers how much fun you can have with a pile of leaves. Jumping, dancing, rolling, throwing, hiding, digging and spinning. Then her mother comes out to see how her daughter is doing raking leaves and the girl has to rake the leaves again.... but then both mom and daughter jump into the leaves together!
This book is great for beginning readers and only includes 15 words. The words are: dance, jump, spin, dig, leaves, the, hide, pile, throw, I rake, up, in, roll and we.
In my opinion the illustrator Aaron Jasinski is OK. I think he could have done a better job illustrating the moms & daughter's eyes. I do like finding the mouse and the frog which are in most of the photos hiding among the leaves.
This would be a good book to purchase for your child and the book will grow with your child. As a toddler they will like finding the mouse and frog and then later on as a 1st reader book.
And would be awesome for your child or class in the Autumn when talking about fall. It would be so much fun to rake the leaves and then doing the exact same things the little girl is doing in the story.
