5.0 out of 5 stars i absolutely LOVE this series!!!!, November 14, 2007
This review is from: Fall In Love Like a Comic Vol. 1 (Shojo Beat Manga) (Paperback)
I LOVE IT!! the series may be short, and that is the downfall of the book, also the character descriptions dont go as deep as i would have liked, but the story is so wonderfull that it almost makes up for everything else!! when you read about Rena and Tomoya you laugh at the things they do together and your heart just melts when you see how cute they are together! The story is so great that when i read it, i could feel my heart beat faster!! plus the art isnt half bad! if you like shoujo manga, especially romance and comedy i am sooo sure that you'll love this story as much as i do!! really i recommend this to teens 16 and under. and if your a parent you dont have to worry about bad language or anything bad or indecent. its totally clean! really its so cute, they should make it into an anime!! but remember that the series is only about maybe 2 or 3 books. really short, but totally worth the money and effort. by reading this you'll give your mind and heart 2 hours of pure bliss!! plus i guarantee that you be thinking about it for the rest of the day and maybe the day after that. its so amazing that its gonna be something you carry in you heart for a long time, if not for the rest of your life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good and definitely cute, January 16, 2009
This review is from: Fall In Love Like a Comic Vol. 1 (Shojo Beat Manga) (Paperback)
I bought this manga and finished it in one evening so it's a pretty quick read. The story revolves around a high school girl who happens to be a mangaka (unbeknownst to the rest of her class). She has never had a boyfriend before but in a particularly frantic moment she asks out a popular boy, Tomoya, and he accepts. The rest of the book deals with their burgeoning relationship.
All in all it was really enjoyable. I might have liked a little more suspense in the relationship building stage. That bit seemed rushed to me. However Rena, our heroine, is cute and spastic in an endearing kind of way. She has a few chibi moments and tends to melt (literally) when Tomoya is around. Tomoya was obviously very attractive but I would have liked a bit more character development on his part. He's great. He's wonderful. He's a fantastic kisser. So he's pretty much a standard issue cute boy. I'm hoping volume two will flesh him out a little.
The book was very well drawn. The art is really cute and fun with little girly details like flowers and such. It made for a very bubbly picture that nicely complimented Rena's rather floaty personality. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that I could tell all the characters apart, even the minor characters. They're all quite distinctive.
In conclusion, Fall In Love Like A Comic (volume 1 of course) was a pretty fun read and I look forward to reading volume 2. Definitely recommended if you're looking for something light and cute. And maybe a little spastic.
