5.0 out of 5 stars Romance, Intrigue and Adventure, it's All Here, March 3, 2010

This review is from: The Fall of Maggie Brown (Mass Market Paperback)
Maggie Brown left her job at the bank and flew to the small country of San Pablo, that is sandwiched between France and Spain, to find her sister Stella. Their mother is dying and she wants to know that Stella is okay before she goes. Maggie has not heard from her sister in over a year and she suspects that the man named Ramon, who she is living with is a terrorist. However, as she will find out, one man's terrorist, is another man's freedom fighter.

Maggie inquires in a bar in the capitol about her sister and this Ramon and the bartender points her to an American named Ben Frazer, sort of an Indiana Jones kind of character who knows all about San Pablo. Frazer tells her he'll lead her to her sister, but he has just the opposite intention in mind. He plans to keep her as far away from Stella and Ramon as possible, at least until after the upcoming elections. It seems that the ruthless head of the country will do anything to keep himself in power and Ramon is part of the opposition.

Frazer's job is to lead Maggie on a wild goose chase, but unknown to him and Maggie alike, there is a cunning assassin on their trail. It doesn't take Maggie long to figure out she's being duped, but why? Is Frazer on the side of the angels or is he a devil in disguise? Will she find her sister? And what about these feelings she's developing for Frazer? A lot of questions that you'll have fun finding the answers to as you page through Anne Stuart's eHarlequin novel that is full of romance, intrigue and adventure. I loved this book and I think you will too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A jungle romance....ahh!, August 4, 2008

This review is from: The Fall of Maggie Brown (Mass Market Paperback)
I love romances where the plot takes you along with the hero and heroine on an adventure through unchartered territory. The whole premise of being alone in the middle of a beautiful setting... with a bit of danger on your heels appeals to me in some pretty strong ways..this is "one of those"!

Maggie Brown is in search of her flaky twin sister and hires Ben Frazer to help find her. They are in the midst of a country in the midst of an election that depending on the outcome may launch the country into civil war. Do not be fooled by the length of this book. Anne Stuart is amazing and can do lots with very little, if you know what I mean!

The banter between these two people is priceless. A kind of "foreplay" before they even kiss. I loved the attraction and chemistry between them and the story has just about everything in it. Mystery, Romance, Adventure, and just a bit of Suspense.

Some other titles to try to get your hands on...if you read this one and like it are

1. Escape from Cabriz by Linda Lael Miller

2. Midnight Rainbow by Linda Howard

3. Amazon Lily by Theresa Weir...all of these are along the same lines...and very good!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Good Daughter Meets Hunka Hunka Burning Love-Man, September 14, 2010
This review is from: The Fall of Maggie Brown (Mass Market Paperback)
Maggie Brown is the good daughter. She is responsible, forgiving and thinks of the future. Since her father passed away she has felt it her obligation to watch out for her mother and sister: two somewhat selfish people who live in the moment and think only of themselves. So to her dismay her mother has told her she is "dying" and Maggie needs to find her twin sister Stella. Of course, her mother has been on her deathbed before and nothing has ever happened.

But always the do-gooder, Maggie finds herself in the tiny country of San Pablo on the verge of a revolution. 'The Professor' is expected to win at the elections and the current dictator doesn't want him to take over so he has sent a hitman, the problem is he has to locate 'The Professor' first.

Maggie Brown meets Ben Frazer, her supposed guide. They clash from the get-go about money, what direction they should be heading, clothes, transportation,....well, you name it. At 186 pages and a Harlequin Intrigue to boot, this book is a fast read with action similar to what you'd find in the Indiana Jones movies or Romancing the Stone. Some of what happens is far out and unbelievable not to mention the fact that I would be less then forgiving regarding her sister's and mom's actions. Still, it is a quick romance and you want good things to happen for Maggie and Ben. If you like this type of story and want an adventure romance with a little more depth try RIVER OF EDEN by Glenna McReynolds.
