More than any country singer or mainstream pop stylist of the era, Patsy Cline's music and legend has grown progressively stronger since her death in 1963. In this bestselling biography, Mark Bego recreates Patsy's rags-to-riches-to-tragedy life story in remarkable detail. "Engrossing, informative . . . and entertaining".--Country Weekly.
Other titles have been written about Cline; but this differs in its focus on her rags-to-riches life. This tells of the 'real' Cline's childhood and rise to fame, including interviews, vignettes, and stories about Cline's life and times. Enjoy an excellent, spellbinding story which succeeds in its attempt to present the entirety of Patsy's life, personality, and achievements. -- Midwest Book Review--This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The book was published by Phoenix Books in America under the title "Elton John: The Bitch is Back" (2009), and in England and Australia with the title "The Elton John Story" from JR Books in London that same year. It will be published in Denmark and in Russia as well.
Thanks to Hannibal Books, in 2009 Mark had a great year in German language bookstores. As he explains it, "Not only has Hannibal published my 'Elton John: Die Story,' they also published the German language reprint of my Tina Turner book, under the title 'Tina Turner: Die Biographie.' In addition, they also published a German language exclusive: 'Whitney Houston: Die Biographie.'" All three books are available internationally through German Amazon.com and they are also distributed to bookstores throughout Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The Whitney and Tina books were released in October 2009. In 2011 Mark is due to update his critically acclaimed book, "Aretha Franklin: The Queen of Soul," internationally.

I found this book to be informative. I learned a lot about the singer. I found it amazing how she turned music around with her voice, and how influential she was, and still is today. The book covered a lot of her life. I think the author did a good job of describing Mrs. Cline, and relating to the reader how she was, and how she acted. It left a good impression of the way the singer really was. Why not 5 stars then?...The author got on my nerves at times. The author was a total Cline fan, and painted a picture like she did no wrong, or was justified for doing it. She cheated on her husband, and used her body to get what she wanted out of life. Interesting as the story was, and influential as she was, she had a lot of faults. The author points them out, but the author is too caught up in the singer to give an unbiased view of her actions...or so I thought. If you are a Patsy Cline fan, then this book is very helpful in learning about her life, and things you may not have known about her. Her rise from poverty to star is quite amazing, and she is quite the singer.

I enjoyed the close-in story about Patsy. It's well told, but the abundance of exclamation points made it sound like an elementary school reader. I also was not interested in the author's opinions.

very informative, I perform Patsy and got a lot of tips about her personality from this book. I had read it at the library first and loved it so much I had to buy it! I really liked the discography list in the back! If you are a fan of Patsy and want to know more about the behind the scenes of the recording sessions of her songs, get this book!
