I disagree with the reader from Missouri,

This review is from: In the Fall (Hardcover)
In the Fall features a boy coming of age and an era in American history that was very unpleasant for a certain segment of society. The main character finds himself faced with a dilemma that is not of his making. If you enjoy the great game of baseball and sympathize with not only the great black baseball players of the early fifties whose talent was overlooked because of thier race, and certain white players who only wanted to be on a winning team, regardless of who was doing the winning, you will enjoy this book.

Very few books stir my emotions like In the Fall. The author had me inside of Max for the entire book. Great writing, believable story and I think it would make a great movie.

This review is from: In the Fall (Hardcover)
This is one of the best books I have ever read. Max is believeable and the author makes him come alive. The characters are well developed and I could not help but fee empathy for Max and the trying times he faced. I would recommend this book to any one who wanted a good, believeable story.

One of the best books I have read in some time. Inspiring and brings out the lost values of the family and doing the right thing regardless of the price. Max is an inspiration to all young people as they make their way in life. I loved it.

Interesting storyline with colorful characters. Especially liked the dog and his devotion to Max. Could use a little refining with dialog. An interesting read.

Poorly written; contrived plot,

This review is from: In the Fall (Hardcover)
Juvenile writing, unbelievable plot, only 182 pages and difficult to get through. No one is as good and noble as the hero, Max Murphy. No one is as completely "bad" as the "bad" characters. Writing was inconsistant; love scenes unbelievable, as is the dialog. Several historical facts were incorrect.
