Tangy,
This review is from: De Falla: The Three-Cornered Hat, El Amor Brujo / Dutoit, Montreal SO (Audio CD)
Charles Dutoit was a student of Ernest Ansermet, who if memory serves gave the premiere of The Three Cornered Hat and was closely associated with both these scores throughout his career. Dutoit follows in his teacher's footsteps admirably. These are subtle, nuanced performances that nevertheless pack a big wallop. The characteristic Spanish rhythms are given a splendid snap by Dutoit, while the overall sonority is full bodied but with no loss of clarity. Although both vocal soloists are French, their contribution in Spanish is wholly authentic sounding and rich toned. The sound engineering, from 1981, is fully up to the high standards of the Dutoit/Montreal series, with warmth and subtlety at all times. If you are looking for the two great Falla ballets on one disc, this is probably your best bet.

Great sound and richly detail, expansive performances of both of these great scores.
