Fallen From Babel,
This review is from: Fallen From Babel (Paperback)
This is one of my very favorite books! My sister is actually the one who bought it, but I love the story of Daniel, where much of this story takes place, so she told me that I would probably really enjoy it. I was a bit wary, as it is a time travel book too, which I usually don't like, but I decided to give it a try. It was really great! It is a Christian fiction book, which are my favorites, with a touch of romance (I enjoyed that too!), set in one of my favorite Bible stories, and with a really cool surprise ending! By the time I was done, I was begging my sister to let me have the book!(She did eventually give it to me : ) I would recomend this book to anyone looking for good Christian fiction.

If you are new to TL Higley or reading the Seven Wonders, take the time to look at this book also. The premise of time travel because of something you have,or found or just that you have a double in the past, puts a fantasy spin on the story. All of these are in play in "Fallen from Babel" as the hero finds out when an avowed non believer is trust into the spotlight as a high priest who was obviously bent on more political power through his machinations. Thrust a twenty-first century man into this role and see if he can survive. To my mind Higley is very talented in making the past come alive and make the reader believe that they could look out the window and see these streets and the wonderful gardens. May favorite part was the conclusion, where our now chastened hero finds that the malicious person he has been impersonating has for the time he was in Babylon, been taking over his life. What does a political high priest do, in modern times, try to raise his congregation over. It was a well written story and I will be sure to read more.

A little slow at first, but a great read,

This book started out a little too slow for my taste, but couldn't put it down once I got going. It's very different from anything I've ever read. It is a Christian novel, which I like, but not overly so. Book involves time travel of sorts, and insight into life in early Biblical times. I think it would be a great novel for anyone to read.

REALISM COMES TO LIFE,

This review is from: Fallen From Babel (Paperback)
This book and all of T L Higley's works are very well written historical novels. This story is easy to get into, feel as if you were living it because she writes with feeling. The realism is marvelous and all her books and we've read all she has written and there are great story lines that make putting down the book sort of like losing your best friends and you want to know what's happening to them. Highly recommended, nicely written to get a sense of the early years of the Biblical times.

Can Peter find his way back in time?,
By Pirate2240 "Kat" (Victorville, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fallen From Babel (Paperback)
An ancient tower. A future evil. A skeptic trapped between. At the touch of an ancient vase...he is sent back to Babylon. Peter Thornton doesn't believe in God. Or rather, he doesn't believe in one God. " All paths are valid," he teaches his university students. One evening he ventures to the archaeology museum and touches an artifact recently unearthed from ancient Babylon. At the touch he is transported three thousand years back in time to Old Testament Babylon. Somehow he knows the language - and the people know him as Rim-Sin, sorcerer and high priest to the gods of Babylon. The moment he arrives he is accused of murder - a murder Rim-Sin committed - and he must run for his life. Against the backdrop of Nebuchadnezzar's court at its zenith, he and rival sorcerers vie with Belteshazzar, the Jewish upstart, for the King's favor. As Peter scrambles to get back to the twenty-first century, he encounters a lovely young woman who has some disturbingly powerful arguments about the God of the Bible. Peter won't get home until he has fallen from his pride. Fallen from his polytheism. Fallen from Babel. About the Author: T.L. Higley earned a degree in English Literature at Rowan University in New Jersey. Higley, who has a lifelong interest in history and mythology seeks to shine the light of the gospel into the cultures of the past. You can learn more about her at her website by clicking here. My Review: Being a huge history buff and child of the King, I was drawn to this story after Higley made me a fan of hers after reading Petra, City of Stone, and City of the Dead. Her uncanny ability to transport the reader back in time, is extraordinary. Her characters are well thought out and believable and her historical research is beyond measure. You are living in Ancient Babylon the first moment you grasp the pages. You are drawn into the story yourself and wonder how will Peter return. Not only at the moment he is transported, he finds himself over the body of a dead Jewish man, but he himself has blood on his hands. Now he does what we all would do and runs! Hiding from the King as one of his diviners, he must find a way back home, back to the world he once knew. He tries to reason with himself that he is there for a reason, perhaps a way to convert people into accepting all beliefs, but when he comes face to face with Belteshazzar, otherwise known as Daniel by his Jewish name, who will interpret his dream and tell him why he is really here as a message from God himself. I received this book compliments of T. L. Higley for my honest review and once more she has captivated me and drawn me back in time. Once again she did not disappoint me. This book rates a 5 out of 5 stars for my virtual journey back to ancient Babylon and back into biblical history.

T.L. Higley has done it again! From start to finish I couldn't put this one down. And if you're a Christian you'll love the way she uses logic, debate, and faith. This is a wonderful book to give as a gift as well, to those who love a good mystery and historical novels: Christian or Pagan.

Great Historical Time Travel Fiction Work,
By
This review is from: Fallen From Babel (Paperback)
I loved this book. It was the first time travel I had come across in the Chistian book section. The main character time travels Back to ancient Babylon. The tower of Babel is being repaired/rebuilt. In his traveling back in time he switched bodies/identities with a high priest and is imediately involved in a murderous plot. The book is a page turner. Who did what, who is afer what enough to kill for it and why? Very well done.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a christian historical fiction which is my favorite. This story is not the typical books I read in this catagory and I enjoyed it. It had just a little romance, some great theological dialog but not too much. Just enough to make you think and ponder but not enough to make you feel like you are being preached at. The story line was great and the suspence. It was a great flow and combination of all things I love in good stories. Well done Higley!
