It is easy to describe records like this, but imagine how difficult it must be for the band itself to pull off such impermeable material with such tightness as it is displayed here. But what Summon accomplishes is the ability to sound extremely natural in their playing. Not a moment goes wasted here, the attack is full of ferocity and how could it not be when you're playing black metal with thrash influences? Summon is far from being a retro band though. They've been around for 15 years, they've seen the rise and decline of the scene and they know the only way to last in a saturated place is to stick to your guns without compromise. Fallen is a true testimony of extreme metal at its finest, bringing the best of modern black metal mixed with `80s segments, which shows their love for the old-school. Many bands release at some point in their career their own version of Reign in Blood, some deliberately, some unintentionally. I guess you can say this is Summon's own version, unintentionally of course, not to mention their best hour. Forget about the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, for this is the best representation of modern American Metal at its most deadliest and punishing.

Summon sound like Sodom and Destruction after both bands have had too many cans of Jolt. This album kind of reminds of the sound Defleshed have also. So if you like the three bands mentioned, I wouldn't pass these guys up. This was my 1st intro to Summon and I thought all these tunes were great enough to buy the rest of what they have to offer. Summon is the band that put on when you've had too many beers, sitting around with your pals having a good time. Moribund Records has some great bands on their label. Also check out the amazing Death Metal freaks called Drawn And Quartered, if you haven't yet. Another amazing band from the same label. Easy 5 stars on this one.

Furious, headbangin', and too much metal to your ears!!! Words can not describe this album!!! One of the greatest bands around. Incredible drums, with non-stop assault, perfect guitar riffs and demon possesed vocals. The energy and brutality in this album is superb!! Recommended!!!
