1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly done, uneven tone.
I am disapointed in this book. The "science" in the story was a joke. Kane's brother was a scientist experimenting on plants with a serum to make them stronger, when the serum is injected into humans it gives them psi powers. Am I the only one that finds this odd? Did anyone else take biology? Any type of fiction, wether dealing with elves and middle earth or Vulcans...

FALLEN ROGUE is a captivating romance novel with relatable characters, suspense and a believable conflict. Amy Rench's style is fast paced and action packed, yet funny and romantic.

Harper Kane's life changes the instant her brother is murdered and she is unwillingly caught up in the fallout. She is injected with a mysterious serum that gives her psionic powers and now her own life is on the line. Rome Lucian's job is to kill her, and although he always does his duty, this time he can't bring himself to follow orders. The adventure begins as they search for justice while they aviod getting killed, and along the way fall in love.

Readers will find themselves unable to put down FALLEN ROGUE as Harper and Rome untangle a dangerous web of deception. Harper's plight immediately inspires sympathy and Rome is the sweet version of an alpha male. Their growing feelings for each other despite their opposing goals are charming and sexy.

Everything about this novel captured and held my attention and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves romance, adventure, and just plain fun!

I am disapointed in this book. The "science" in the story was a joke. Kane's brother was a scientist experimenting on plants with a serum to make them stronger, when the serum is injected into humans it gives them psi powers. Am I the only one that finds this odd? Did anyone else take biology? Any type of fiction, wether dealing with elves and middle earth or Vulcans and spaceships needs to be internally consistant and logical. The magic serum is neither.

The next major problem is the Harper/Rome relationship. Harper is devastated over her brothers death, but instead of taking a few days to mourn is happily jumping into Rome's bed at the first opportunity. He also betrays her to evil scientist but is forgiven and in bed with her almost in the same breath.

The entire novels reads like a cheesy Sci-fi movie where plots and characters don't have to make sense so long as there are lots of gunfights and sex scenes.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bubble Gum Read, June 19, 2010
By
This review is from: Fallen Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
The author writes well but has little character development followed by little plot development. This is not a deep sci-fi nor a secret agent thriller. Were it taken further it might have been a great story. This book is aimed at love starved females with it's over the top sex. Like the dvd player you can skim thru these sections and miss nothing. Disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars really now., April 23, 2010

A serum that was to make plants stronger when injected into a human causes psionic powers to manifest.
A top retrieval agent (who apparently does wet work as well) takes one look at the heroin and decides he needs to help her instead of doing his job.
Said agent turns heroin over to evil scientist. Then rescues her.
heroin decides to trust him.
Oh really now. This in just the first 100 pages.

I won't even get into the "my brother is dead. I'm devastated.Hey, Rome is hot" business.

If you are looking for a simple romance novel with little thinking necessary, then you might enjoy this book. If however you want a little protein with your sugar, avoid this book. If necessary, run.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book by my friend's daughter, March 13, 2010

When I ordered this book, it was simply to read a book written by my friend's daughter. It turned out to be a really good suspenseful read for a vociferous reader of books. I truly enjoyed reading it. It would be good for an adult or older almost adult, definitely not for children or young teens!!

I'm looking forward to her next book!!

There are some decent ideas here, but it reads like the WORST boiler-plate romance I've ever seen. At least 300 times, I was stunned senseless by the sheer stupidity cunningly imbued in a sentence or paragraph. Can anyone really think that way??? I doubt it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Scientific elements are deliciously intriguing, November 22, 2009
By
Tez Miller (Victoria, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fallen Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
Harper Kane is taking a break from training for the Olympic trials to visit her scientist brother in Oregon. Upon arrival, Dr Robert Kane is killed, and a major confrontation not long after ends in Harper being injected with a serum that gives her powerful psi abilities. Rome Lucian soon discovers that his boss wants to experiment on Harper - then kill her, as well as Rome.

The scientific elements are deliciously intriguing, but the rest of the novel is simply a romantic suspense to which I didn't warm. Being a romance, there's an HEA, which takes away any suspense. The characters are fine enough on their own, but their romance isn't appealing. Harper and Rome go a bit stupid around each other, getting carried away with checking out the other's physique instead of focusing on the investigative task at hand. Basically they seem to get together because there are really no other candidates. Other than Harper, the only female was a scientist unnerved by Rome's looks, and other than Rome (and Harper's deceased brother), the only men were antagonists.

I really wanted to like this, and while I loved the science, nothing else interested me.

5.0 out of 5 stars faster than the speed of light thriller, December 4, 2009
This review is from: Fallen Rogue (Mass Market Paperback)
In Hood River, Oregon remote field botanist Bobby Kane tells his visiting sister Harper, an Olympics caliber swimmer, to run with a box he had hidden. Those chasing after him soon shoot him. Inside the box she retrieved are a computer flash drive and a syringe filled with a liquid. The killers who murdered her sibling come after Harper as they want the box. As she flees the scene, she accidentally injects herself with whatever was in the needle. Instantly she changes as a blinding light kills those trying to murder her.

Government agent Rome Lucian is sent to retrieve Harper. He succeeds, but becomes upset when she becomes a guinea pig experiment. He abets her escape, but criminals and feds chase after them; with each team interchangeable as his death is acceptable and her capture essential in the name of research. All she wants is to avenge her sibling's murder except for her attraction to Rome

Fallen Rogue starts off faster than the speed of light and accelerates from there as the story line never slows down until the final confrontation. Harper is conflicted between a need to murder those who killed her brother and chase after her, and knowing the cost will be her soul and the corollary belief that she will never see her beloved Rome again. Adding to her dilemma is she knows she will die as those who used the serum have before her have done. She makes the tale with her personal choices that will have readers wondering to kill or not to kill that is the question.
