5.0 out of 5 stars Better late than never:)
Strange for a single to be finally released the same month, Sarah's second single "STUPID" is released to radio but no complaints here. The radio mix(TOM LORD-ALGE mix) appears here. The mix is quite similar to the album version but preferred due to a crisper, better and louder bass. The regular album mix and a live production of "ANSWER" along with...

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Song, But Nevertheless...
1) Why wasn't this song released as a commercially-released single in a timely manner?
2) Why include the album version if the similar radio mix is already included? The fact that it is included defies common sense; if they want to sell copies of AFTERGLOW the least they can do is include only the radio mix and make a consumer curious to hear the album mix.

3) "Answer" done live is a nice treat, but it's nothing special.
4) They have a multitude of excellent club mixes of "Fallen". Why not include 1 or 2 so that fans can own a legitimate copy of them?

2.0 out of 5 stars shame on you, record company!, September 12, 2004

Put out the single without the Gabriel & Dresden remix? You've gotta be kidding me. And the Satoshi Tomiie remix was hot too. Both weren't included on the single. OUCH.

In a time where Hip-Hop rules the chart this song's success at Hot AC and top 40 is a testiment on how Sarah Mclachlan has continued her success and "Afterglow" appears headed for 3x platinum status within the next few months.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fallen Grace, March 11, 2004

It's a little weird for Arista to commercially release a single months after its release, but that's what they like to do anyway. The 3 stars here is not so much for the song but rather the tracklist and the irritating protection-control technology employed on the CD.

Fallen is like many of Sarah's songs, from the way it's made to the way it's performed. Having said that, there's certainly no doubt as to how good the song still is, with Sarah's trademark vocal and emotive lyrics. Included here are the Radio and Album Versions, which to me, sound no different. Similarly, the aocutic version of Answer also sound like its album counterpart sans background music.

Then there's protection control. The disc auto-starts to install some security files and launch a player which plays the tracks as encoded and secured WMA files off the disc.

I would have thought that Arista would include the superb remixes done for this song by Gabriel and Dresden and Satoshi Tomiie. No such luck for you can only find them on vinyl or one of the Canadian music download website. The only saviour is the beautiful video that's on the enhanced portion of the disc.

2.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing, March 18, 2004

Maybe her heyday has gone, Fallen is definitely a smaller hit than its predecessors like Adia, Angel, Sweet Surrender. If Fallen were to be released in her last album it would've become a filler. I've had great expecatations of Sarah and I really got indulged in her Adia and Angel, but again, Fallen is a little disappointing. BTW, yes you can in fact remove the copy controlled thing by pressing (and not letting go) of your shift key right after you've put the CD into the player. That will not only let you burn the CD, but also the software will not intrusively occur in front of you.
