5.0 out of 5 stars Shining Star!, May 14, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fallen Star (Paperback)
"Fallen Star" was soooo good! This is the 2nd book by Ms. Clayton and it was better than the 1st! Meet Calvin AKA Blayze the hottest rapper on the charts. He has the money, fame and let's not forget the women! Oh and he has a wife. His wife toni has been with him long before he was famous and sacrificed her dreams to make his come true. How does Calvin pay her back? By screwing as many women as he can and not caring if she knows or not. He also won't give her a baby and rubs a pre-nup she signed in her face constantly. Calvin's manager Ethan is getting fed up with his star client. Ethan also has a thing for Calvin's wife and can't stand the way Toni is treated by Calvin.
When Calvin gets accused of rape the sh** hits the fan! Will he lose his wife? What about his fans? Is his careeer ruined? Did he really do it? Get into the pages of this book to find out! You will not be dissapointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars A very exciting read, June 14, 2006
This review is from: Fallen Star (Paperback)
I loved this book from start to finish. It's hard putting it down. This is a very well written book. The author didn't use a lot of utter nonsense chapters---she was straight and got to the plot quick. I was satisfy with the ending. I would definitely recomend this book to readers. This is the second book I've read by this author. I look forward to reading her third.

4.0 out of 5 stars We Fall Down....But We Get Up., May 20, 2006
This review is from: Fallen Star (Paperback)
Fallen Star by Debra Clayton, author of Rap Superstar was a very good read. Fallen Star is about rap superstar Calvin Wallace, aka Blayze. Blayze is the hottest rapper out of the ATL who has went triple platinum, as well as sold out every arena on his tour schedule. However, fame has went to his head.

Blayze is loving all the attention he gets from his groupies. The problem with that is that he has a lovely wife, Toni who has been with him for seven years (married three years). Toni has stood by Calvin's side from day one. She helped him realize his talent and pursuaded him to be a rapper. She put off going to college in order to help him achieve his goal of signing a record deal.

When Calvin reaches stardom, he forgets not only where he came from but who stood by his side from day one. When Toni threatens to leave because of his infidelity, Blayze treats her like one of his groupies on the side, telling her to put up with it or get to stepping with nothing, constantly rubbing the prenup she signed in her face.

He feels like he's got it like that. But as the old saying goes, what goes around comes around and what goes up must go down. Blayze is charged with rape of a fan. He denies the allegations and for the first time in three years, realizes he needs Toni more than anything to help him get out of the rape scandal.

Will Toni stand by her man and be his ride or die chick - as she usually is - during his rape trial? Or will this be the end of the straw and she walks without a penny to her name??

This book is filled w/ suspense and will definitely make your mouth drop.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a good book...for the most part, August 8, 2007
This review is from: Fallen Star (Paperback)
There was never a dull moment. There is plenty of suspense to keep your attention throughout the story. What I didn't like about the book was how everything ended up playing out. I don't want to give any details of the story but I'll just say how things happened the way they did just didn't sit well with me. Also, the ending wasn't that good. Overall it's a good book. It's a quick read and will serve it's purpose to entertain. I recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars How Do You Catch A Fallen Star?, August 3, 2006
This review is from: Fallen Star (Paperback)
After years of hard work, Blayze hit the hip-hop scene, taking it by storm along with the number one spot on the hip-hop charts. Taking advantage of his overnight success and all that it afforded him, Blayze found himself feeling like nothing could touch him. Having attorneys that were paid to see to it that he evade the law and a record label that was interested in keeping the money flowing in their pockets, only fueled the fire and the persona of this well-known rapping genius.

In the meantime manager, Ethan Michaels, continued to run interference for him and comfort his wife, Toni, when Blayze was out doing what he felt he had the right to do because of his status. But as much as Toni loved her husband, there was only so much she could take. Having been there for Blayze from the inception of his career since they were both young teens, Toni deserved his respect. There was not enough money or material gain that would give Toni what she needed in her marriage love and appreciation.

Finally Blayze finds himself in a place that not even his high paid attorney can get him out of. As quickly as he rose, Blayze fell and this time he had to accept everything that went along with it and the irreparable change in his life.

Author Debra Clayton has written a story that will keep you turning the pages until the end, taking you behind the scenes of the rap hip-hop lifestyle to experience the ups and the downs of the industry.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't front Debra does it again!!!!!!!!, June 29, 2006
This review is from: Fallen Star (Paperback)
Readers are really sleeping on Debra Clayton her stories are real although fiction. They make you really think you know the characters as well as the different states that she takes you in her novels. This novel was very good just like her first one Rap Superstar. I thought people didn't really support her first book because of the cover. Which like I always say you can't judge a book by it's cover. But this novel Fallen Star has a great cover and is an excellent novel of adultery, betrayal and REVENGE. Great Job Debra Clayton.
