5.0 out of 5 stars A Non Mystery Fan Finds An Intriguing Mystery
Falling Down is a mystery that will cause you to read the entire book in one seating. It is spellbinding and guaranteed to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Not one to widely read mysteries, I found that this one not only held my attention but made me want more.

2.0 out of 5 stars quick read
I read this book a few years ago and have just finished re-reading it. I gave it a second chance but I fail to see what is so appealing. I found the plot was entertaining enough but the writing style a little hard to read. I like to hear words in my head and the authors choppy and often convoluted sentences broke the flow of the story for me. Maybe the movie will attract...

4.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ THRILLER, March 22, 2005
This review is from: Falling Down (Paperback)
A mysterious thrill-ride for the suspense-driven novel. David T. Boyd deserves high praise for his debut novel. FALLING DOWN is definitely a page-turner... I hope this is the start of a series... so much more I want to learn about these well-crafted characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Retribution Thriller, May 24, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Falling Down (Paperback)
Two middle aged people appear to have a beautiful marriage, their home seems happy, their love-making satisfying, but beneath the surface is betrayal. Instead of a standard infidelity and retribution plot, this book with its well drawn characters and detailed settings, takes you through a passion play of good and evil on ancient Eastern themes and terms. The hunter does indeed become the hunted but their are so many plot twists that you barely want to put the book down.
The author has a vivid imagination and the power to make you feel that you are there!
I hope to see more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars GRIPPING READING, May 9, 2005

This review is from: Falling Down (Paperback)
The author brings his characters to life as if they were living right next door. You had a sense that you knew these people, wanting to share in their lives, and all the while wanting to protect the un-protected.
There were more than a few gasps while reading the book. While not giving anything away, the reader will be extremely surprised as the story reaches it's multiple climaxes.
This is a great "Who Done It?" Can't wait for his next book!

I seldom read books, but this book took my attention and would no let go. The characters in the book are very real and life-like. I started reading the book and read it from cover to cover in one sitting. I hope to read more from David T Boyd, he is a great storyteller that grabs your attention and pulls you in, and you keep wanting more. Excellent work.

I found the plot was entertaining enough but the writing style a little hard to read. I like to hear words in my head and the authors choppy and often convoluted sentences broke the flow of the story for me. Maybe the movie will attract more people to read the book. I look forward to seeing if Mr Boyd's future offerings flow beter.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another reason to hate Halloween, May 9, 2006
This review is from: Falling Down (Paperback)
Is David T. Boyd, author of Falling Down, following the footsteps of Sara Paretsky down the streets of Chicago? Long the favored crime scene of mystery writers, Chicago is the place where Boyd's mystery Falling Down ultimately unfolds. His sparsely written book -- and that's a compliment not a criticism - packages love, sex, career, betrayal, murder and even witchcraft into a quick and memorable read. Excellent bedtime reading, if you remembered to lock the doors.

The story immediately drew me in. I really couldn't put it down, every time I tried, I picked it right back up within minutes. Each chapter enticed to me to read on, I wanted to know what would happen next. This debut book is a great mystery to be read within a sitting or two. I look forward to the series, these characters are so interesting, I want to know more.

5.0 out of 5 stars great read, December 12, 2005
By
This review is from: Falling Down (Paperback)
This "novella" is one of the most intriguing I've read to date. It proves that nothing is really ever what it seems. The plot is well developed and the characters are interesting. You really don't know what's going on until the very end. It's well worth reading.
