True Christian Introspection,
By "nicholynn" (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Falling Forward (Audio CD)
After one listen to Maggie B.'s latest offering I was hooked. Each and every song screams intensity. This isn't the same mere "Christian fluff" that I believe many artists create in order to maintain a certain image. "Falling Forward" is an outpouring of all emotions, both the incredible satisfaction that comes with knowing God as well as the pure frustration and inadequacy that we each face as humans. By looking within herself and creating such a powerful album both lyrically and vocally, Margaret Becker has given us a musical gift for all time. She figuratively ripped my heart out, and I'll gladly wait another three years for one more of these introspective looks at Maggie B. No one can walk away from "Falling Forward" without an alteration of mind, body, and soul.

Is there nothing Margaret Becker can't do well?,

This review is from: Falling Forward (Audio CD)
After listening to Margaret Becker's soulful CD "Falling Forward," the question arises as to whether there is anything Margaret Becker cannot do exceptionally well. "Falling Forward," like all her previous albums, contains thoughtful and penetrating insight into one's personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the walk that relationship produces. The music is both provocative and soulful. Every song illuminates the Christian's relationship with Jesus Christ in a new way. This album comes highly recommended and is clearly one of her best, if not the best she has produced. There is no doubt that her music will cascade over both your ears and spirit leaving you refreshed while still desiring to strengthen your relationship to Jesus Christ.

Lyrically and musically sensational!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Falling Forward (Audio CD)
Only Margaret could pull off such a feat as "Falling Forward," though she would be the first to say that this album was not all her doing. Although she is quite capable of single-handedly creating a grammy-worthy album (and this IS grammy worthy), she made this a collaborative effort with other musicians, authors, and two producers. However, as with her previous albums, "Falling Forward" is remarkable because her lyrics discuss with brutal honesty her present relationship with God. Without apology, Margaret asks questions without contriving answers ("I Don't Know How"), shares her fears and hopes ("Horses," "Clay and Water," "Irish Sea," and "Coins and Promises"), reveals her limitations ("Cave it in," and "Deliver Me"), and disusses her devotion to God ("Crawl," and "I Testify"), at times, in very intimate ways ("Any Kind of Light"). "Fallling Foward" is both an artistic departure from her other albums and a musical return. The departure is simply due to her own professional and spiritual maturation over the past three years. The guitar-driven nature of these songs is reminiscent of her first two albums, though this would not establish her as the "Queen of Christian Rock" when judged by contemporary standards. If, as I do, you love this album because Margaret's every vocal drips with her passion for God, then check out her earlier albums, "Immigrant's Daughter" and "Soul."
