"A sexy, emotional treat that will resonate with the 'nice girl' in all of us." -- NYT Bestselling Author Lexi Ryan

Book #2 of the acclaimed three-book serial that began the New York Times, USA Today, and worldwide bestselling CAN'T RESIST series.

Abby Bartlett is well aware that everyone thinks she's in love with her best friend Brian. He is, after all, the type of man a nice girl should be with--the polar opposite of the bad boy--the kind of guy who didn't let his wife's decade-long illness stop him from showering her with a lifetime of love every second until her dying day. Yes, Brian has been the yardstick against which Abby has measured all other men. But everyone's wrong; she couldn't possibly be in love with him.

Because she's never once allowed herself that option.

It's taken a while but Brian Sullivan has finally come to terms with being a widower at the age of thirty, surviving the woman he spent half his life loving, a third of it losing. Truth is though, he wouldn't have 'survived' any of it really had it not been for Abby--sweet, incredible Abby--the woman he's never once had to picture his life without, never realized he couldn't truly live without. Until now. Now that he's finally able to love her the way she deserves, the way he knows she wants to be his brother.

Who's giving him exactly one chance to speak now or forever hold his peace.

Note: Please be forewarned, this is NOT a standalone. This is BOOK #2 in a three-book SERIAL trilogy. There IS A cliffhanger ending. Books #1-3 (Abby's story) must be read in order. While Books #4-6 are separate standalones about different couples in the Can't Resist series, it is recommended that they be read after the trilogy.

*** Books #1-3 are currently FREE on Kindle Unlimited & free to borrow for Amazon Prime members!***

Oh WOW... LOVED these first 2 books, but I'm DYING waiting for the 3rd book to find out what happens!!! I really hope that Abby chooses Connor. I love Brian as a close friend, and feel bad for what he's been thru, and hope he and his daughter can stay close with Abby. But I think Connor deserves happiness too. And I feel like Abby is the only woman that he's ever been able to love. True, she loves both of them, but I think in very different ways. I really really hope that she chooses Connor!!!! And I hope she can do it in a way to not completely break Brian's heart and that they can still be close friends, especially for his daughter's sake. Oh, I just can't wait for the next book... can't WAIT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unconventional August 14, 2013

I had a tough time getting my head wrapped around Abby being with Connor's brother. But, that didn't stop me from liking the book. Although it lacked the humor of the first book, it opened my eyes to JHD. Wonderfully written, poignant story of Abby wanting a family...even if it is already made. I think it's important that she can't tell Brian about what happened to her in high school. She finally realized that as well. If you read book one, you must read this one and then book three.

3.0 out of 5 stars Brian or Connor - That is the questions! August 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the story of Brian & Abby. Connor stepped away from Abby and is giving Brian an opportunity to see if they are in love. Connor is selfless in this act and although he has strong feelings for Abby he wants to give his brother the opportunity because he feels that Brian may be in love with Abby. Connor, always doing the right thing for his brother, he lets his brother take a chance. This is a beautiful story of how Brian & Abby try to ignite a love between each other. A love that they may already have but haven't realized it. The dynamics are awesome between Brian & Abby and Skylar (Brian's daughter). Brian is thoughtful, patient, kind, and everything you would want in a man, but maybe not if you were the same personality. Abby is awesome as well and has given so much of her life to Brian and Skylar as Brian's wife was dying of Huntington's Disease. It is a sad story and a beautiful one all in the same book. The author really did her research and wrote a beautiful story.

This book was good, But I am on team Connor. Brian is a nice guy definitely, but I thought that the passion that Connor & Abby had was just so awesome. Brian & Abby have been friends, and I think she was feeling guilt about giving Skylar a mom to replace Beth (her mom who died). Not that it wouldn't have been an awesome connection, but Abby was still suffering strong feelings for Connor. I didn't have the same strong feelings for Brian & Abby and I really like the theory of opposites attract, and Brian & Abby weren't opposites. Even though Connor is a good guy, nobody knows it. This is not a bad read at all, I just felt I wanted more Connor (this is not a critique about the book, only my personal need for Connor) and I understand I need to wait my turn, so lets hope book 3 makes me happy and I get lots of Connor.

5.0 out of 5 stars I could take either one of Sullivan brothers July 31, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Well, this book starts off almost 4 months after the ending of Resisting the Bad Boy. Brian has decided that he is ready for something more with his best friend Abby. She isn't so sure. She doesn't want to ruin their friendship if a romantic relationship doesn't work out. She isn't quite over Connor yet either.

Connor is in the book and it seems like Brian and him have an agreement about Abby. Apparently, Connor might have had more feelings than he really wanted to let Abby know about it. But the manwhore with the soft heart wants Brian to be happy.

Brian also has an ace in the hole, Skylar! We see a lot more of her and she is funny.

Abby's relationship with Brian is pretty much a 180 from what she had with Connor. I loved seeing Brian in this book.

However, I think that I still actually like Connor more. I don't think that Brian is truly ready for a relationship. I am really looking forward to book 3!

5.0 out of 5 stars Falling for the Good Guy by Violet Duke July 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Violet Duke's Falling For the Good Guy is nothing short of amazing. Not many author's have Duke's skill as an author for totally selling her characters and their stories to that place deep within their reader's heart. Duke makes it seem effortless.

I readily admit I fell hopelessly in love with Connor in Resisting the Bad Boy right along with Abby and started reading Falling For the Good Guy stubbornly and solidly Team Connor. At the same time I knew if anyone could sway my opinion it was Violet Duke. Sometimes I hate being right, but she does not disappoint. FFTGG is filled with witty dialogue, laughter, love, heartbreaking moments, passion, and so much more that kept this reader fervently flipping to the next page to see how it would play out, while at the same time, never wanting it to end.

Abby and Brian have been best friends and 100% involved in each others lives for over thirteen years. She was by his side through the birth of his daughter, the caretaking of his wife, helping to raise Skylar, and as he recovered from the loss of Beth, his beloved wife and her good friend. They have ALWAYS loved each other and have a history so romantically tragic it begs for a future filled with happiness. Add in the role Abby has played as an undefined surrogate Mom to Skylar and Duke makes it all seem so right for them to finally be a real family.

But it also seemed so right that Abby was the light to Connor's broken soul and they were destined to be together. And of course, Abby still has unresolved feelings for Connor and he for her. Which brings us to book three of this wonderful series which will finally tell us which of the Sullivan brothers Abby will end up with. I can't wait to buy the next book, Choosing the Right Man!!
