Book Description

October 21, 2006
Eighteen-year-old Faryn is straddling two worlds---the constricted life of a Lutheran pastor's daughter and the exhilarating life of a young woman headed off to college, discovering the first bloom of her sexuality. Her mother Alyce straddles two worlds as well---keeping up appearances as a devoted preacher's wife, while struggling with her deeply neglected needs as a 38-year-old woman.

Alyce struggles with losing her daughter to college and her husband to an extended mission trip in Mexico. With an empty house and aching heart, she must suddenly face her growing attraction to Jacob, the handsome assistant pastor at her husband's church. Faryn longs to reinvent herself. She falls in love with an older man and makes reckless decisions that nearly destroy her.

Falling to Him explores the journey of both women as they come to terms with their primal needs, their hearts' desires, and their desperate longing to connect with God and the men in their lives.

"An erotic tale of growth and discovery. Falling to Him is fantastic!" Wendy Gabrielle, author of God says, "Go!"

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Falling to Him, a romance, coming-of-age story, is particularly fascinating and unique because it portrays Christian characters in a realistic fashion. Unlike some conventional Christian novels, Falling to Him delves into some controversial and even taboo subjects. I've read some Christian novels that did an excellent job of portraying faith, but I wanted to do more. I wanted to write about subjects that are usually forbidden in conservative, Christian fiction. I wanted to explain the situations in a comprehensive and detailed manner and get inside the characters' minds so the reader could really appreciate the moral struggles and the anguish these characters experience.

About the Author

Tamara Lyon has been writing fiction and poetry since the age of eight. She has always been enamored with the process of creating stories and characters. At fifteen, she decided that one of her goals was to someday write a novel. At twenty four, she began her journey. Two years later she completed her first novel, and, in doing so, knew with absolute certainty that it was what she was destined to do. With confidence, she began her second novel, Falling to Him, and completed the project three and a half years later. She is currently working on her third novel, Fixing Forever Broken, which she hopes to complete by the spring of 2007.

Tamara resides in Edgerton, WI with her husband, Christopher Schmidt, and her six year old son, Andrew.

5.0 out of 5 stars A deftly written and highly recommended novel, March 5, 2007
This review is from: Falling to Him (Paperback)
Faryn is eighteen years old and trying to balance her constricted life as the daughter of a Lutheran pastor with the heady anticipation and experiences of being on her own as enters college. It's there that she first discovers her budding sexuality. Faryn's mother Alice is also having to cope trying to keep up appearances as a devoted preacher's wife while struggling with her husband's neglect of a 38-year old woman's needs - compounded by his embarking on an extended mission trip in Mexico and leaving her alone in an empty house and with an aching heart. "Falling To Him" is a story of generational struggles, the mother's growing attraction to the handsome assistant pastor at her husband's church, a young woman in college struggling to reinvent herself (and falling in love with an older man with the inevitable heartbreaks), and both women's ultimate attempts to satisfy their needs, achieve their heart's desires, and connect with God and the men in their respective live. "Falling To Him" is a deftly written and highly recommended novel of complex and engaging characters caught up in a web of personal issues that will grip the reader's rapt attention from beginning to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than I anticipated!, October 21, 2007
This review is from: Falling to Him (Paperback)
I read this book on the advice of some good friends, and I'll admit I was skeptical that I would like it (based on my presumption that it was a romance... don't judge a book by its cover!) I found myself swept up in the story lines and I couldn't put it down. It was a great read; easy to follow yet not elementary in its writing, and with a wonderfully refreshing story line. Great book!
