5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, Intense, Thought-Provoking June 26, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
With brutal frankness, Fallin in Love takes you deep into the painful world of a young woman who uses mindless, drunken sex as a release valve on her own self-hatred. Sherry was abandoned by her mother and left in the hands of her cold aunt and abusive uncle. As a teen she NEEDED to excel in everything, to feel some false semblance of self-worth. When, in one disastrous moment, fate took what she thought was the most important achievement in her young life away, she spiraled down into an abyss of mental self-abuse, at the hands of others, using sexual promiscuity in her desperate search for what she assumed was love. As she got older, her addiction to sex became worse, as did her addiction to alcohol, costing her love, self-respect, and pieces of her life lost in a drunken haze. Sherry became her own worst enemy, her biggest roadblock to recovery. If not for the strength of the bonds she allowed with a select few she had reluctantly learned to lean on, Sherry would have imploded long ago. The mountainous road to managing her problems was, in her mind insurmountable and each backslide devastating. In the end, she learned she had to learn to trust in herself, as well as in those around her in order to end the vicious cycle she was trapped in.

Stephen Bradlee has based his novel on a true story, making it all the more heartbreaking to know someone could be so tortured and emotionally crippled because of the callousness of others. There is no sugar-coating in his writing, it is blunt, intense, stark and lays bare the ugliness of Sherry's undeserved lack of self-esteem. My personal emotional investment was profound and I found myself not only in awe of Sherry's unrealized inner strength, but hoping she would learn to see it, too.

I want to thank Stephen Bradlee for the opportunity to read and review Falling in Love

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant June 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Falling In Love is a heartbreaking, yet inspiring story of a brave woman trying to overcome her battle with sexual addiction.

Simply stated, this is brilliant!

As `Falling In Love' is based on a true story I liked how we see the process of the writer interviewing the person whose life experience this belongs to. Stephen Bradlee's writing style captures the story beautifully and you feel every emotion that "Sherry" is experiencing, both the good and the bad.

Sherry, is struggling with her addiction and is just trying to survive each day and try to overcome it. I found myself cheering her on when things were going well and my heart broke for her when she would step back into those bad habits she's trying to avoid. She is a smart girl with a terrible past and you really hope that she can achieve the future she dreams of.

If you like books that are based on true stories then you need to check this out. If you like emotionally charged reads then definitely check this out. It is not an easy read by any means but it is definitely a fascinating one.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing story May 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Wow ..................

This has got to be the most intense, heartbreaking, but at the same time, the most uplifting book I have read in a long time.

Sherry Johnson is a beautiful young woman who was abandoned, as a baby, by her mother. She was left in the 'care' of her cold and bitter aunt and an abusive uncle. This would prove to have a profound effect on her as a young girl. She was desperate to find love and acceptance, and not finding it at home, she searched elsewhere for it, but this led to a destructive cycle of alcohol and sex.

As her life spun out of control, and she was forced to leave her home town, Sherry made her way to New York to try and find her mother's childhood friend, hoping that she would be able to help her to find her mother. On the way to New York, she had car trouble and met Paul, who helped her. They fell in love, but it wasn't long before Sherry destroyed the relationship by acting out on her addiction. She was soon on her own again, and back on the road - on her way to New York.

In New York, she found her mother's friend who encouraged her to join a support group for sex addicts. The rest of the story details Sherry's day-to-day struggle, the people she meets, her disappointments and failures as well as her successes and her amazing triumphs.

This book was truly intense. I often found myself saying 'noooooo Sherry, please don't do that; don't take that drink; don't leave the house;'. Every step she took, I took with her. My heart broke for her. I cried for her. I applauded her.

I highly recommend this book. It is a book about a woman's struggle with sex addiction, but it is in no way an erotica novel. It is well written, and not once did I feel even remotely uncomfortable. I would love to see this book in every bookshop around the world.

Get yourself a copy of this book, you will not regret it, it is a really great story

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! May 24, 2013

Sherry has an addiction...to sex. In this, we learn how she tries to cope with and overcome her addiction and all of the relationships it has destroyed. She has a very troubled past and is desperate to find her mother in the hopes that she can answer some of her questions as to why she is the way she it.

The author gives a first person account of what it's like. This was a well written account based on a true story. Sex addiction probably goes undiagnosed for many people. If anyone suffers from sex addiction, this is a wonderful book to read that lets you know that there are others out there and there is help. The bravery of this woman to come forward is nothing less than commendable. I applaud her outpouring of emotions as she describes the people in her life and how her addiction has destroyed her relationship(s) with them.
