Falling In Love,
By The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers (RAWSISTAZ.com and BlackBookReviews.net) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Falling (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
FALLING is a love story in which the couple has to fight their way into each other's hearts. DeAndra Blake was very much in love with the Honorable Judge Damon Kessler; however her love was not reciprocated. After attending the wedding of Imani, the love of Damon's life, DeAndra realizes that Damon would never love her with the same intensity. Although she had been in love with Damon since she was fifteen years old, she knew falling out of love would not be easy. So, she began her life over in a different city hoping to get over her love for Damon. When our hero and heroine end up in the same city two years after their emotional parting, old and new feelings for one another start to surface. Damon finds himself in Chicago because of a mystery stalker, and he literally comes to the aid of DeAndra. Their need for each other brings the couple together for more than safety, but will they actually fall in love again? FALLING by Natalie Dunbar is a bittersweet romance with a touch of mystery and a few tangles to unravel. The characters seem genuine and the storyline plausible, but predictable. As with all romances, it follows the formula, but readers get added suspense and intrigue as they try to discover Damon's stalker. The one regret I have with this story is that it is short and we don't really get to know the main characters in depth. Romance lovers will enjoy the heat of passion with this couple. A major disappointment,
This review is from: Falling (Indigo: Sensuous Love Stories) (Paperback)
When I got this book and read the back cover, I did a double take. The writeup on the back of the book discribes a couple Justice and Tony and refers to another entirely different book called "A Happy Life by Charlotte Harris". On skimming the contents, the actaul story is about a couple DeAndra and Damon, that is to say "Falling by Natalie Dunbar"Never in all the thousands of books I have read or browed in bookstores, libraries have I ever encountered such a case. I am astounded that such a mistake made it pass editors, proofers, publisher etc and ended up for purchase by customers. I read the entire book and I spent the majority of time trying to figure out what the key characters looked like. He has green eyes and is suppose to be good looking. Other than that, one can only guess what he looks like. His complexion / ethnicity is never mentioned. So he could be Caucasian, African American? The reader really has no idea and has to just guess. She has brown eyes and brown legs, so I a made a leap of faith to infer that she may be african american. But given that there are so many hues of brown (coffee, cafe au lait, almond, hazel, caramel, toffee, mocha, cinammon, cocoa, spice, cedar, etc), I thought it was very non descript. The author is very sparse with her character descriptions making it difficult to connect and root for the customers.

Foolishly, Honorable Judge Damon Kessler allowed DeAndra Blake to slip through his fingers. Although, he didn't want to admit it, Damon knew that DeAndra was in love with him; however, at the time he was still hooked on his supermodel ex-girlfriend who had married another man. It wasn't until after DeAndra moved away that Damon realized that he cared deeply for her.DeAndra Blake had finally realized that Damon Kessler would never love her like a man should love a woman. So, she moved away from Damon to solely focus on her career as a new attorney in Chicago. It's been two years and DeAndra never expected to see Damon again; however, fate had other ideas. Unknowingly, Damon ended up in the same city as DeAndra because of a crazed stalker. A friend offered his home to Damon until the stalker was caught. And, as luck would have it Damon just happened to be in place when DeAndra's life became endangered. Old feelings that were once buried resurfaced with a vengeance. Will this couple be able to overcome their past differences and more importantly, will the hunting danger be eliminated before it could claim one or both of the couple's lives? Falling was a bittersweet romantic tale with suspenseful twist thrown in the mix to make an even more intriguing plot. Past mistakes can almost, always be a difficult task to overcome and Damon learned that the hard way. After their devastating breakup, DeAndra wanted nothing more to do with Damon especially after she had giving him her heart and he totally mistreated her love. However, once Damon had DeAndra back in his life he refused to give up on a second chance at regaining her love and devotion. The remainder of the storyline focused on two key issues - Damon's stalker and the danger that was chasing DeAndra because she was on the brink of discovering a secret that wanted to remain hidden. Throughout the story, there were glimpses into the minds of the stalker and who could possibly want to kill DeAndra that kept me speculating until their identities were revealed by the author. Overall, Falling by Natalie Dunbar was a sensation, a passionate read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Nikita Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed
