Drive Thru found a gem in this band,
By Alucard (NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Falling Into Place (Audio CD)
I'm a big fan of the bands on Drive Thru. While a lot of them are extremely similar to each other, they each have their moments when they shine. I recently said that The Movielife EP was the best one of the year. Now, I'm not so sure. Finch, another one of Drive Thru's new bands has released one of the most original, addicting, and flat out rocking EPs that I've ever heard. This band, mixes a unique style that really works well. They mix a nu metal sound with an emo one that works out extremely well due to excellent vocals and instrumentals. All tracks here are excellent, with "Perfection Thru Silence" being my favorite. The four songs may seem a bit short, but they each have plenty of depth and feeling which makes them truly well done, you'll have this cd back in your player for quite a while. These guys have released a killer EP, their full legnth hits stores in January, and I can't wait to see how it turns out. If you haven't heard this EP, you're missing out on one of the best new bands out there.

Pure Gold!,
By Will (Norfolk, MA USA) - See all my reviews

This is without a doubt the best EP of 2001. After buying What It Is To Burn I was tempted to check out this EP, and after a while I finally decided to go and buy it (it's only 7 or 8 bucks). I can honestly say it was worth every penny.1. Perfection Through Silence (4/5): This seems like a great fit to start off the EP. However, I feel it is the weak point of the EP, it just seems too average compared to the other songs... 2. Letters To You (6/5): This song alone is worth the 8 bucks. The version on the EP is better than the version of What It Is to Burn...which [is also great]...I just can't say enough about this song, it is just that good. 3. Waiting (5/5): I can't believe this song didn't get onto What It Is To Burn, with the exception of Letters To You, it is clearly the best song on the EP. This song has been blasted over my stereo many times. 4. New Kid (4.5/5): This song grew on me a bit, when I first heard it, I didn't like it too much, but after listening to it a few times it truly has grown on me. This song reminds me on Ender on What It Is To Burn, this is the closest to a slow song Finch can get, if you like Ender you will like this song. Well, what are you waiting for....go buy this EP!!!

AWSOME,

First off. This is a awsome CD. I loved it, and it was worth every penny. The songs "Perfection Through Silence", and "Letters To You" sound even better and cooler then on the What It Is To Burn CD. Waiting, being my favorite on the cd, kicked butt! And the last song "New Kid" was perfect for a slow emo track. Believe me, this is worth purchasing.

Catchy as hell,

I've been a fan of Finch even before they came out with this EP and I must say they did a WONDERFUL job. They have been able to sucessfully blend emo/punk with a metal style of music. Which is a good break from all those depressive metal bands. Right now there are even better songs to download for example "what it is to burn", which is my personal favorite. If Finch is playing in your hometown anytime soon I recommend seeing them. I think they are one of a few bands who sound better live than on CD.

with their hard mix of emo and hardcore speed metal/punk. these guys are not to be forgotten anyt ime soon. a truely unique and catchy sound that will leave you singing the first few bars of perfection through silence (the first track on their ep) makes this cd a must buy. all fans of glassjaw and thrusday will love these guys.

Finch: Falling into Place EP,
By Christopher D. Long (Baltimore, Maryland United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Falling Into Place (Audio CD)
I cannot heap enough praise on this band or EP. Finch's 'Falling into Place', while only 4 songs long, is an album more than worthy of any listener's ears. The lyrics are meaningful and heartfelt, and the music just has this ability to draw you in. Every song is equally excellent, but my personal favorites are 'Letters to You' and 'Waiting'. Just try and listen to those songs without singing along. So, if you want to hear a band that is not quite like anything else out there and you're willing to give something new a try, then I highly recommend giving a Finch a listen. I doubt that you'll be disappointed.

Bringing Emocore to a new level,
By "soyfarra" (Orange County, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Falling Into Place (Audio CD)
The "Falling Into Places EP" by Temecula's very own Finch has brought emocore to a new level. This brilliant EP from one of Drive-Thru Records finer bands has brought together a mix of edgy sound with emotional lyrics that few bands can contest. "Perfection Through Silence" shows the uniqueness of lead and back-up vocals, mixing picturesquely with solid guitar riffs and distinctive bass lines of a fine up and coming band. The limit to this band's success will only be bounded by their intimidating aspect of their screaming and power melodies.

Designed to be played LOUD!,

Finch flat out rocks. Its that simple, soaring guitar riffs and great harmonies abound in this EP. All four songs standout as a possible singles. Finch blends nu-metal and emo aesthetics to create their own unique style. The tracks explode with energy with awesome vocals, great percusion work and inspired guitar work. While none of the songs are lyrically outstanding, the incredible vocals make up for any shortcomings. The screaming back up vocals come in just at the right times. Finch represents what Emo should sound like, Loud, emotionally and diverse. Also, considering the band members of Finch are still in high school, the song writing is incredibly advanced. Finch has unlimited potential, let's hope they realize that.

For an EP this is GREAT!,

I have never bought an EP before, but after hearing What It Is to Burn and going to a Finch show, I became a HUGE fan. For a cd that's only 4 songs, it's awesome! Letters to You and Perfection Through Silence are on What It Is to Burn, but they're a little different here, so that wasnt a total waste. Plus, the two songs that are only on this EP, "Waiting" and "New Kid" are excellent. I have to say that "New Kid" is one of my favorite Finch songs though. This song is a masterpiece. Oh hell, BUY THE DAMN THING!

Finch rocks,

I am a big fan of Drive-Thru Record bands and that's how I stumbled upon Finch. I heard "Letters To You" and I was totally hooked. Their sound is hard to discribed, it's like a medium between...well, something. And the bottom like is that they're an awesome band. Definetly worth checking out.
