Book Description

Avon Romantic Treasure August 1, 1997

Hell hath no fury like a bride scorned!

Highborn country heiress Mallory Edwards was dutifully fulfilling family obligations when she exchanged marriage vows with a dashing gentleman she barely knew. But the charming beast abandoned her on their wedding night. Years later—facing prison because of her husband's debts—she has finally found the blackguard, John Barron, again. And she's not leaving until the faithless rogue grants her a divorce!

John is enchanted by this delightful hellion who causes a scene at his London soirÉe. Could this be the forgotten rural miss whom his father once forced him to wed? Now that Mallory's reentered his life, John desperately wants her to stay—and not merely to help him snare the criminal who is ruining them both. But winning her hardened heart will take more than sweet words and sensuous kisses—he will have to become the caring, thoughtful husband who is truly worthy of her passion and her love.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

At the start of every chapter in this charming Regency title are lines from English folk songs. And like these songs, the romance between Mallory Edwards and John Barron is at times quaint, humorous, ironic, touching, and heroic. Mallory's family has always owned Craige Castle, so when financial circumstances require that Mallory marry to keep the Castle in the family, she does so out of duty. Young and inexperienced, she is willing to take her mother's advice about relationships. When her new husband abandons her on their wedding night she makes peace with her new and lonely life until John's debts force Mallory and her mother out of their family home. Seven years after her wedding night, Mallory goes in search of her husband, and finds he has much more to offer than financial stability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Falling in Love Again was an excellent book., March 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Falling in Love Again (Avon Romantic Treasure) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really enjoyed the depth of the characters and felt that I knew them well by the end of the book. The plot didn't ever become "thin" and held my interest throughout the story. There was a hot magnetism between the two main characters; they couldn't stay away from one another even though Mallory did her very best to resist her husband. I enjoyed reading about the "harvest home" and felt that the author not only researched it well but wove it into the plot in a well thought out manner. Readers will fall in love with Falling in Love Again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Romantic Historical, July 20, 2006

After the death of her father, Lady Mallory is forced to marry John Barron in order to keep her beloved home Castle Craig. John Barron, is disgusted with his father's schemes to control his life. After the wedding, John escapes Castle Craig and England for a life in the military, leaving behind his young bride to tend to their home. He is guilt ridden that they both have been used as pawns in their family's games and thinks that leaving her is the best plan. Seven years later, John is forced to return from the continent after his fathers death and take up his new position of Viscount. He lives it up in London with gambling and mistresses, all the while his wife is barely eeking by at Castle Craig -unbeknownst to him because he believes that she is well kept with the money he has alloted. Mallory decides enough is enough when she is booted out of her beloved Castle for unpaid debts -her husbands. She seeks him out in London demanding her Castle back and an divorce. John is shocked to meet the fiery beauty. Things go from bad to worse when he learns that his uncle has been mounting debts in his name and has recently disappeared with all his money. Anne and John go on into hiding, posing as steward and his wife, in hopes that the uncle will surface believing his nephew has left the country.

In hiding, Mallory and John fall in love.

The story is absolutely beautiful in the way John tries to redeem himself for leaving Mallory all those years ago. She's reluctant at first, but he lays *siege* and is determined to win her heart. It's very heart warming to see the hero pursue his lady. Very romantic with lots of ~sigh~ scenes. This one's a shelf keeper, definitely makes the heart flutter.

If you liked this one, You and Only You by Maxwell is also terrific.

Lady Mallory and John Barron had no say in their arranged marriage. He was given a nights notice and Mallory was given about a day - all was arranged and two strangers met the wedding night. The wedding night was not to be remembered by Mallory, other than her humiliation that her groom left and would be gone for 7 long years.
Having been forced from Craige Castle for unpaid bills, she went in search of her errant husband with the sole purpose of gaining a divorce. She had heard that he had returned from the continent's wars and was whooping it up in London.

What follows is an absolutely lovely romantic story of love, trust and redemption. I thoroughly enjoyed the attempts of John to woo back his wife and finding himself falling in love with the woman that was once the girl he had left behind. It was so terribly sweet and so romantic. I did not find it boring at all ... This was truly a very touching love story and showed the growth and maturity of the two individuals who learned to overcome obstacles and find themselves to be friends who rather liked one another and then found that once in a lifetime....lasts forever kind of love! Great story!
