5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Easy, and Worthwhile Bible Study for a Bunch of Women!
We just completed the ten lessons in this book. By "we", I mean a group of women, who met at a friend's home on Wednesday evenings, while our kids were at Awana. Some of us knew more about the Bible than others, some were new Christians, some were Catholics, others were protestants, one Pastor's wife...a real "mixed" group of ladies. I used the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Amused
This is one of the MANY workbooks/studies that I purchased but simply did not, and will not complete.

I felt like I was being fed the story of THEIR lives. I mean, I wanted to do this study to learn! I wanted there to be some tips on how I could better strengthen my relationship with Christ, and something that would give me things that I could apply to my life...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Easy, and Worthwhile Bible Study for a Bunch of Women!, May 5, 2004

I used the "Workbook" as my only resource. Some preferred reading out of the hardback, and not doing the homework. Our leader used both, one adding more depth to the other. The Workbook has five days of questions and answers for each of the ten weeks. The answers are to be supplied from Bible verses, and your own introspection. The "homework" in the Workbook was not as daunting as some of the other Bible studies I've been involved with (Beth Moore, Nancy Missler), but was still enough to cause me to examine myself and my Christian walk. Our leader enjoyed using the "Leaders Guide". The Leaders Guide had pre-selected questions from the Workbook to discuss. This kept the class focused on the lesson, and the discussion involved everyone. We used the videos, featuring the authors Dee Brestin and Kathy Troccoli. Dee is a wonderful teacher, sweet and friendly. Kathy sings, and adds some wonderful stories and insights of her own. The video is well produced. You could do a study with or without it, but I sure recommend it. With prayer, video, and focused discussion, we were able to keep our class time to 90 minutes.

I did not have trouble with the "Jesus as bridegroom" aspect of the study. It is all very scriptural. The word "Romance" is used in the same vein as "Relationship". This book never talks about erotic love, but about God pursuing a loving relationship in a faithful, and restorative way with each of us. I think my husband would enjoy this Bible Study, but it's made especially for women as Dee and Kathy talk about "chick flicks", love songs, and other notions that women enjoy talking about. Not just entertaining, this is real spirituality, and a deep and vital Biblical study for a wide variety of Christian women.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jesus is the ultimate Bridegroom!, February 22, 2001
By
Tammy Holman (Birmingham, AL USA) - See all my reviews
This book is a must-have for anyone who is seeking to deepen their relationship with Jesus and get to know Him more intimately! As co-authors whose backgrounds and life experiences are quite different, both women compliment each other perfectly and come together to provide a warm, inviting place where both single and married women can come to be renewed, encouraged, and challenged in their walk with Christ. Using contemporary and Biblical examples of romantic relationships along with their own life experiences, Kathy and Dee portray the love and longing Jesus has for each of us in a romantic way that many of us have never experienced before. As one of the most tender expressions of a woman after God's own heart that I have ever read, I would also recommend this book to men who are seeking a closer walk with their Savior.

This book is absolutly fantastic. In the past I have had trouble really getting into spritual books to try and help myself understand the Lord and how my relationship with Him should be. This book brought everything into sight. Kathy and Dee did such an excellent job. I would recommend "Falling in Love with Jesus" to anyone. Though written primarly for women, I believe men could benefit as well. This book was truly a gift from God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Falling In Love With Jesus: Abandoning Yourself to the Great, January 31, 2001
By
I have read the book completely through and although the book is written for women as the target audience this book is a wonderful read for men too. Dee Brestin writes from the perspective of 30 + years of marriage and Kathy Troccoli writes from the perspective of a single person. The book is well done and gives real life lessons on how we all need to draw closer to Jesus and shares from the heart experiences of how these two Godly woman have grown closer to Jesus through their trials and their blessings. The two women share very personal stories from their lives letting you see them as human. They don't sugar coat their experiences but are open enough to admit their flaws and weaknesses and how God taught them and made them stronger and how Jesus drew them closer to His heart. They also admit that they are still learning and growning closer to Jesus day by day...

I highly recommend this book. You will be blest. Once you pick it up you won't want to put it down. It's an easy read....

5.0 out of 5 stars Jesus loves you unconditionally!, March 21, 2001

I was immediately attracted to this book because I've read "Friendships of Women" by Dee Brestin and I've been a fan of Kathy Troccoli's music for about 10 years now.

Kathy is single, and Dee has been married a long time, and the way they weave their stories together in this book just great! This book was an easy read and it moved very quickly (women with little time to read, have no fear!).

Perhaps the thing that struck me most was how vulnerable Kathy was in relating her journal entries, many of which were addressed to the husband she has longed for. Even though she's prayed for a husband, she has really ministered powerfully to other single women and is a great example of making the most with whatever twists and turns life happens to take.

Dee and Kathy used the titles of love songs as chapter and sub-chapter titles. I don't think that enhanced the book at all, at least not for me. Some people might really enjoy those, though.

The book contains a lot of detailed information about the relationships between Mary and Martha and Jesus and between Ruth and Naomi and how we can learn from those stories how to have a more complete love relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ....

This review is from: Falling in Love With Jesus : Abandoning Yourself to the Greatest Romance of Your Life (Workbook) (Paperback)
This book started a revival in my heart, soul, mind, marriage, and most importantly, my relationship with Christ. I did not even know I was "in the wilderness" until I completed this study. Now I am beginning to enjoy invincible love and am joyfully returning to the first love that I once had for Christ. You will be blessed by this book. Thank you, Kathy and Dee!

I have read the book. It is a great collection of stories of two women who are believers in Jesus Christ. The book looks at their walks with Jesus. One from the perspective of a married woman with Children and one from the perspective of a single woman. The stories show the growth of both women and their deepening relationship with their Lord and Savior. The stories are open and honest. They will make you laugh and they will bring tears to your eyes. The book is an easy read. Once you pick it up you don't want to put it down. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Beautiful! A Must-Have for the Romantic at Heart, September 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Falling in Love With Jesus : Abandoning Yourself to the Greatest Romance of Your Life (Workbook) (Paperback)
A Father and child relationship is not the only way God relates to us-- He is so much more! This wonderful book takes the reader on a journey to discover how our God can romance us into a love relationship with Him that will see us through the joys and sorrows of our lives. Anyone who sees it as "sexual" has sadly missed the beautiful, romantic message of this book. It is written by women and geared mostly toward women, both married and single. One of the most touching parts of this book are the excerpts from Kathy's personal journal as she struggles with waiting for the man God will provide for her. This book changed the way I see God and the way I see being single resulting in a joy and contentment I had not felt before. It is a true blessing that should be shared!

i have not finished this book, but i am already impressed by the scriptural content. it has made me really thing differently about my relationship with the Lord, and how He relates to me. if you are single, Kathy really describes the yearning that most single women go through for an earthly husband.to think that the Lord actually feels those same things for me is amazing! i would most definatly recommend this book to anyone looking to grow in their faith and love of the Lord Jesus Christ!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh thoughts on Divine love, June 4, 2001
By A Customer
Many of us have always related to God as our Father, our Abba. But how do we relate to Jesus? I've heard the word "best friend" used often, but the idea of relating to Jesus as our bridegroom is revolutionary. It changed the way I approached Him, and I hope it will for you too! This read is time well spent! Enjoy!
