5.0 out of 5 stars slobbering on the bone

"Falling Off the Bone" had me slobbering all over it. It's everything a comedy cd should be--hillarious, smart, and it sends both the small and large intestines on the roller coaster ride of their lives. double up on the depends. this one's a doozy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better to watch and hear than just listen.
This CD is OK. Todd Barry is one of my favorite comedians, but on CD, it just don't come across. The content isn't that great, and they feel like separate tracks instead of one continuous performance.

I'm sure if this was a DVD instead, and we could see his face, that it would be much funnier.

i would tell the lady below not to play with electronics after going on a holiday booze cruise. i don't think she realizes that one disc is an audio cd and the other is a dvd. and, both work just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Fell Off My Bone, April 3, 2005
This review is from: Falling Off the Bone (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
Todd Barry is a pretty prolific guy doing tons of stand-up and many television shows. It also happens that I really dig this comedian and was super-excited to see a follow-up CD to his previously released 'Medium Energy'(which is also great by the way).

'Falling Off The Bone' is very solid from front to back. Barry is a very funny and obviously intelligent man with a different style and approach to comedy from a lot of other comedians. Apparently his style was once described as "a step above hypnosis" and that about hits the nail on the head. He is completely monotone at all times, which is one of the things about his delivery that is so great.

This is a great album. He's not a foul as Dave Attell or Patton Oswalt, but Barry gets a little nasty now and then. Barry is a very funny, very intelligent comedian who is really hard to compare to any others working today. Take my word for it and pick this album up. You won't be disappointed. And as an added bonus to the CD, there's an extra DVD included that has a couple specials and various other amusing stuff. Two disks for a price you can't beat. Just buy it already.

Also, check out his official website(toddbarry.com)which has tour dates, etc. and is very amusing. His 'Receipt Museum' on there is hilarious.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant stuff - not defective in the slightest, December 26, 2004

the key to Todd Barry's standup act lies in the delivery. In this case, I'd recomend Fed Ex as DHL are always losing stuff. But seriously, does anyone really give a hoot that Nitwit From Nowhere couldn't get their copy of 'Falling Off The Bone' to work properly in their K-Mart DVD player? Hey, not only does my copy play just fine, but I think the sound and video quality of every other DVD in my collection has improved since. Thank you, Todd Barry. And thank you, Comedy Central (for not showing "Mad TV" in a 24 hour loop).

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, July 21, 2007

You have to be SMART to get this guy. It's not stupid comedy. He is dry, clever and witty. I saw him live...and he is outstanding on improv too.

5.0 out of 5 stars only thing better would be delivery, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Falling Off the Bone (W/Dvd) (Audio CD)
it would have been nice but it was never delivered! And my numerous follow-up email messages to amazon went unanswered. But I sure enjoyed being billed for it! Thanks for nothing amazon. BTW, I have heard Todd Barry before and bits of this cd and I think that he is very very funny, that is why I gave the 5 stars.

Todd Barry's new album, "Falling Off The Bone," proves wry humor and intelligent wit is superior in the stand-up comedy world. As one of the most experienced and well-known comics in NY, Mr. Barry's set is hysterical live and this CD can bring his humor right into your livingroom/ipod/etc. Definitely a must-have for a comedy fan.

I bought this CD b/c Amazon suggested that if I liked Jim Gaffigan, I might like Mr. Barry. I was in an adventurous mood so i decided to get it and it was subpar at best. I think i chuckled a couple of times but it was pretty terrible. My passion is stand up comedy and I've heard them all; comparatively, Todd's joke's just don't cut it. His delivery is mellow like Demetri Martin or Mitch Hedberg, but the humor is almost absent. I wouldn't recommend it

1.0 out of 5 stars Elevator Comedy, July 30, 2006

Novocaine for the funny bone. I ordered this CD along with one by Andy Andrist, because Stanhope recommended them both. Well, apparently ol' Dougie had one too many Jägermeisters that day, because, while Andrist is a flat-out hoot, this Barry guy doesn't even approach funny. His delivery is whiny and flat, and his material is occasionally amusing but that's about it. He'll have his own show on the Tee Vee someday, no doubt about it, along with the rest of the safe, marginally talented hacks who currently infest American airwaves.

If you like Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, or Stanhope, avoid this guy like a bad sitcom.
