5.0 out of 5 stars great debut, June 10, 2003

after the first song i heard edie carey play five years ago at a live show held at my tiny boarding high school i knew i would be buying her only- at the time- cd "the falling places" as soon as i could run to the front of the line after the show. edie carey immediately made her way into the hearts of our campus.
her debut cd is wonderful. it is the perfect mix of touching lyrics, an apparent guitar and a voice that no one seems to be able to turn away from. as a listener, her adolescent struggles, past love, and her greatest happinesses are so beautifully displayed here. i always find this cd to be the perfect blend of sounds to soothe even the worst of worsts.
there is so much talent here. you won't be disappointed by this album or by her other releases "call me home", "come close: the live (photo) album" and "when i was made" (set to release august 26, 2003), some of which i have been fortunate enough to hear at recent shows.
i can't stress it enough- she is so great. i have sent edie a pre-order to every cd she ever makes for the rest of her career. she is just so darn wonderful. i can't get enough of her, live or in my cd player.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your memory waiting to happen, October 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Falling Places (Audio CD)
I'm trying to find the right metaphor, one that evokes the happy familiarity that comes from playing songs until they are your own. The peace that comes from playing songs until the breaths, words and strums are your companions and not just something on your stereo. Buy this cd because it is a Sunday morning on the living room couch in your pajamas, because it is the bend of the reeds on a Nantucket beach. Buy it because it is a memory waiting to happen, because it is *your* memory waiting to happen.

Edie's voice is soulful, poetic and beautiful. Her guitar-playing is at times both energetic and subtle. Her's is the most impressive debut cd I have ever heard.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is the most amazing folk CD ever, July 28, 2000
This review is from: The Falling Places (Audio CD)
Edie Carey is a prodigy for folk music. I was not really into that type of music until I heard her sing. I immediatly bought the CD, and now it rarley comes out of my CD player. Her soothing voice accompanied by the guitar is amazing. I recomend this CD because , even if you don't like folk, something about her voice or her lyrics will work its way into your heart.
