Falling Skies: The Complete Third Season (DVD)

The war against an occupying alien force enters a volatile new phase in the third season of FALLING SKIES. Seven months have passed since the survivors of the 2nd Mass reached Charleston. Now elected to public office, Tom Mason (NOAH WYLE) has formed a tenuous alliance with a band of rebel skitters with Tom's son serves as the mediator between Mason and the rebel skitters. But the alliance may not be enough to overpower the enemy Espheni, whose forces are now being led by an even more sinister overlord. To complicate matters further, another race of aliens has just entered the battlefield. And Charleston also faces dangers from within its own walls. Recent battle losses have convinced Tom and the military that there may be a mole feeding strategic plans to the Espheni…

I'm pretty frustrated that Amazon gave us Prime users the shaft on this one. When the news broke last year it was presented like Amazon Prime members would be getting access to the latest season, and that is not the case. Additionally, it sounded like Amazon was getting some exclusive deal but the most recent season is on iTunes as well. I'll be giving Apple my money this time around once again as their season price still beats Amazon. Amazon really needs to do better with their communication and pricing. At least give a price break to Amazon Prime members that would compete with iTunes.

Fantastic series, really much better than I expected when first started watching. But now I'm addicted (or maybe harnessed!). But why are season 3 episodes not free for Prime members as they become available??

We watched the first two seasons on Prime for free. We both enjoyed the episodes. Husband and myself, we became caught up in the series, and ended up purchasing the 5 episodes of Season 3. Now waiting impatiently for weekly episodes....

Movies/tv series, and whether one person likes it or not, and the next person doesn't. Highly SUBJECTIVE to an individual when it comes to likes and dislikes. Please don't slam my review because I liked it, and you don't.

SciFi Alien Invasion apocalyptic type series; invading aliens wreaking havoc on humans and decimating cities, taking the older children hostages making them slaves. Another different alien race arrives, which added to the plot nicely. We felt the series is well done with good special effects and graphics, and pretty good entertainment. It is thought provoking in several scenarios and stimulated a good bit of conversation for us. I would recommend people to watch this series if this is your type of SciFi entertainment. Watch the trailers to help decide if it is your cup of tea. It did take watching the first 5 episodes to become engrossed in the series.

I don't write highly detailed story and plot spoiler reviews. There are so many of those already.

After reading many of the other user reviews which were (unfairly) negative, I'm compelled to add my own two cents in defense of this entertaining new sci-fi endeavor. Like many, I found the show a bit underwhelming. TNT's excessive promotion made it almost impossible to live up to the hype. This is a common problem today; being familiar with the phenomenon, A major factor in many of the negative reviews was the "been there, done that" feeling of the premise. One difference I liked about Falling Skies is that it begins not with the alien's arrival (a lá Independence Day), or during the attack, but after the invaders have already won, leaving the human race defeated and on the run. This slightly different perspective is an interesting spin on your average space invasion plot.

The story goes as it follows: the earth is invaded by a strange alien nation and the few remaining people regroup to protect each other and to face the powerful aliens in order to make them leave. There's a whole military vs. civilian friction dynamic that simply shouldn't exist. An "us and them" mentality that is beyond foolish. Yet another standard action-packed series about a post apocalyptic band of survivors/misfits fighting against an unusual event/enemy/situation. I desperately would have liked to have seen the invasion itself (but I suspect we'll be shown elements in flashback later in the series – so as to keep the show interesting and allow it to drag on for endless episodes and seasons).

I have to say, I'm not really enjoying Season 3 nearly so much as 1 and 2. First of all, 7 months is a pretty big time leap (if you don't remember how much time has passed, not to worry, they'll mention "these past 7 months" frequently). Obviously a lot has happened, a lot has changed .... new characters, new aliens, new technology, new presidents (yes, that's pleural), none of which the viewer has been allowed to witness; it's all just there, no context, at least that's how it feels to me. The new "overlord" (you know who I mean) is just plain silly in my opinion, and that baby is pretty freaksom! Anyway, just my opinion. YMMV. I'll continue to watch a few more episodes, but I no longer have that "I can't wait to see the next episode" feeling. Oh, well.

This epic sci-fi show has everything. Yes, it's full of action and plot twists but what really makes it special is it's thought provoking storyline, ambiguous characters, and the exploration of those gray areas between good and evil. It gets us to think about what characterizes something as "good" or "evil" and what motivates us to make the decisions that we make.

The issues explored in this show are relative to today's headlines. Such as - Is it okay to give up our rights and freedoms as humans for personal comfort? (as in the "Brazil" episode). What is true freedom? Do we have free will? etc..... Plus - it kicks butt!!

Can't say enough great things about this truly amazing TV show!
