This book was so incredibly depressing I couldnt believe it. I almost cried several times, and the ending was just ... awful. And the sample chapter of the next book ("Winter's Dream") made me sick to my stomach.

Spoilers.

Bixby (the heroine) has a pretty depressing life. Not *bad* in sense that she's abused, but ignored. It's like a Cinderella story without the happy ending. Her life is a sad, lonely place where she takes care of her mentally ill grandmother, has an absentee father, dead mother, and the story starts with her one friend, her brother, having died in a car crash a week before. Cheerful, no? Dont worry, it gets worse.

She meets a boy in her dreams who says he can give her her brother back in return for talking to him in her dreams. She's convinced it's a dream but still says yes. Bad move. The more she finds out about Jordan, the worse it gets. When she confronts him, he turns abusive, and she screams that she never wants to see him again, he kicks her out of her dream world. But wait! It gets worse. Her life immediately goes straight to hell. If there's a bad thing that can happen, it immediately does (in the span of a day or two). She's convinced Jordan is ruining her life, and though it's never confirmed, it's an exceedingly logic conclusion. This from someone who claims to have loved her forever. Hmmm... yep, abusive boyfriend, check.

****MAJOR SPOILERS**** She ends the book in a juvenile rehab facility, which is basically the author's idea of every terrible thing an orphanage could be. Little Orphan Annie has nothing on Bixby. The sample chapter of the next book starts with her being caught by an evil employee of the orphanage who, when the chapter ends, it about to violently rape her. Did I mention she's 16 or so?

Amazing storyline - nothing like I have read before. I couldn't put it down - I read it all in a day! There is a very stong female lead, i just finished the hunger games series and loved it, this is along the same lines. This book is so original and not at all predictable. I highly suggest this book, especially for the price. It's appropriate for pre teens as well as adults. I can't wait for the next one to come out!

This book was one of the best I have ever read! It is written cleverly and had me hanging on and wanting more after every chapter. The drama and relationships between the main characters is also riveting. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the sequel! I would definitely recommend this novel to anyone who loves a good suspense story with a little romance thrown in.

This is quite original in some ways and certainly very interesting. Whilst not ranking among the very good books I have read it is intriguing and worth reading especially for a young audience. Sex and language are to a minimum and it does retain a nice quality especially in the main female character. She is a nice girl caught up in some craziness but handles it so well, and this is nice to see as it shows strength of mind.

It was free and for that a great reading experience. Will I continue? Perhaps not with this series but I am certainly drawn to some of her other titles.

I found this story so sad yet so touching. I just can't believe how it ended. Again, so sad. I am definitely going to read the others in the series.

I got this book off a free list, and I was so happy I stumbled across it. Other than grammatical and spelling errors, which are truly the error of the editor in my opinion, it was a fantastic read!

The characters seem to come to life, they have depth and personalities that I found exciting and kept me coming back and picking up my Kindle time after time! The story was fast paced and kept me guessing at points about what was going to happen next.

For a free book I was very pleased. So pleased I intend to read the next in the series, and pay for it.

Happy Reading! =}
