Editorial Reviews

From the Author

To my Readers,
The Camerons are a big, close-knit, often noisy, sometimes pesky, but always loving
family. Descendants of hard-working folk who came from Scotland with little more than
the clothes on their back and a steadfast faith in God, the Camerons are a patriotic,
enterprising clan more apt to spend their spare time volunteering in the service of others
than playing golf or checking their investment accounts. They've settled in Tide's Way, a
little town that grew up around the old Jolee Plantation in Coastal North Carolina, and
planted their roots deep.
An orphan at eighteen, Sandy Marshall Cameron always dreamed of having a big family.
Then she married Cam, and her dream came true. She loves every moment of it,
especially worrying about her grown children when they let her and fussing over a
growing brood of grandchildren. Jake is her baby, and he's made a few mistakes in his
life, but she's proud of the man he's become. She can't kiss away his hurts as she did
when he was little, but her love and encouragement are always there when he needs it
most. So come on down to Tide's Way and meet Jake and his family, and the new
neighbor, Zoe, who challenges everything thing Jake thought he knew about himself. I
hope you enjoy Falling for Zoe as much as I enjoyed writing it.

From the Back Cover

Jake Cameron won't risk hurting his best friend by admitting
he loves her.  Little does he know . . . that's what hurts her the most.

Taylor's strength is her characters and this book is no exception. Zoe is colorful, zany and wonderful - easy to connect with. And Jake Cameron and clan are so vividly next-door neighbors that I felt like I should invite them over for dinner! I don't read a lot of romance novels these days, but this one is so delightful and easy to read, I'm sad to know I'll have to wait until 2015 to read the next installment of the Camerons of Tide's Way!

If you want a feel-good story that will whisk you away to the shores of North Carolina and keep you turning the pages, don't miss Falling for Zoe!

Skye Taylor releases some serious talent in this light, summer read. Who wouldn't want to be Zoe, meet Jake, be a Cameron? Falling for Zoe is solid in its storytelling and character development, and I can see readers new to Skye Taylor falling for her and her abilities to write a satisfying romance with a feel-good ending. Very nice job.

Zoe Callahan has more than her share of troubles: impending motherhood, an ambitious ex-boyfriend who doesn’t want her or their child, an impulsively bought coastal house that may turn out to be far more of a “fixer-upper” than Zoe anticipated—and a new neighbor, handsome Jake Cameron, a single father with plenty of problems of his own. Both of them are dealing with the consequences of the choices they’ve made, and both know only too well that there is no place in their lives for romance. But the attraction is mutual and takes them both by surprise. FALLING FOR ZOE is a deftly plotted and delightful story of family, of real life, and love, and trying to do the right thing. It is both engaging and entertaining—and filled with unexpected “truths,” as Zoe and Jake try to navigate the complicated life situations they find themselves in, not the least of which is the shared but unexpressed need they have for each other. FALLING FOR ZOE is a romantic gem.

This book reads like a script for a tender Hallmark Channel movie. A man and woman both hurting from past romantic failures become neighbors, then friends and wish for more to themselves, but keep missing each other. A warm family centered melodrama accelerates to high drama as their stars align.

This writer is growing on me. I am giving this 5 stars for the originality of delivering dialog in such a manner that one learns more by what is not said than what is said so very often throughout the book. I read her first novel some time ago and while political intrigue isn't really a favorite area of mine, I had a strong appreciation for the intricate way this writer wove some very real, current day political concerns and issues into a novel of fiction.
So, when I saw this come out and promising to be a series I decided to give it a whirl even though romance is not a genre that spend a lot of time in. What a pleasant surprise! This book, and I suspect those to come, are far more than just a romance. The characters are well defined, not at once, but as one continues reading, in a very subtle manner the characters reveal themselves more and more. Another aspect that I am enjoying with this author is in the refreshing style of her dialog. So often the reader learns more by what is not said in dialog. Ms. Taylor has developed a style that pulls the reader in to feel as though they are part of the story, not just an onlooker by putting a reader into the position of needing to "feel" what is going on but left undisclosed. Her hints are there if you become "involved."
I highly recommend any who enjoy such an "involvement with the story," as I put it to give this a shot. The rewards are there and I am personally looking forward to more as this series develops.

I don't usually read romance novels, but this was a great read! I liked the characters and was sorry for the book to end. Looking forward to more of Skye's novels in the future.

A sweet romance novel with just enough twists to leave you guessing. Place this novel at the top of your summer reading list.

This is a well written romance story that's not too mushy. Plenty of action and conflict. Zoe Callahan is intelligent, courageous, and independent. And pregnant. Which man will she choose? The rich, hot, sexy, successful attorney who is the father of her baby? Or the handsome single dad volunteer fireman next door? Oh, and by the way, he's the one who delivers Zoe's baby during a hurricane. I couldn't put this book down and I can't believe it's only Skye's first romance novel.
