Buyer Beware,

As to the games: It's Fallout. By this point, one shouldn't need a review of the games. They're amongst the best games of all time (Tactics excluded), and no recommendation can be high enough. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.
However! Something has to be said about the reliability of the games. First: you likely will need to crack Fallout Tactics. For whatever reason, in Vista, the game does not recognize the CD as being a game CD. Thankfully, gamecopyworld.com is still a bountiful resource for safe No-CD cracks. Also, from what I've heard of friends' experiences with this collection, some of the bugs that Fallout and Fallout 2 experience on WinXP are serious enough to ruin the game experience. For what it's worth, Vista has had no game-breaking issues with any of the collection so far. There are, however, odd graphical glitches (the game screen has a tendency to suddenly go black; saving when this happens clears up the issue), and certain still-unresolved gameplay bugs that amount to minor annoyance. Greater on the annoyance scale is that the games *still* bother you to register them despite both Interplay and Black Isle no longer existing, and the publisher of this collection, GSP, seems to have their own agenda trying to push a "register and get a free game" thing. Once again, individually small issues that add to the larger annoyance factor. Bottom Line: It's Fallout. Play it. Sure, there are some annoying technical issues, but lets be realistic. It's Fallout.

You Won't Have A "Fall-ingout" With This Game!,

"Fallout"--a game made by Interplay studios in 1997--is a classic game, about a world, decimated by war. You play the Vault Dweller, searching for the technology needed to save his people, even amongst the evil that has taken hold in the world. "Fallout 2"--a game made by Interplay and Black Isle (now Obsidian) studios in 1998--takes place several generations after the first "Fallout". You play a descendant of the original Vault Dweller, who must also find needed technology, and who must save the decrepit world from evil again. "Fallout: Tactics"--a game made by Interplay and 14 Degrees East studios--is a different take on a classic game. Instead of being mandatorilly turn-based, you can choose not to be; It is also more focussed on squad-based gameplay. In this game, you are a paladin for the Brotherhood of Steel, and you and your squad are given the task to save the world--one city at a time. Note: This particular collection is from GSP, which mean that it is a British software company. That means that some things--like the fact that there are no children in the game--will be different. It is recommended that, if you get this game, that you get the most up-to-date patches!

Bought this collection for my boyfriend who, at the time, was foaming at the mouth in anticipation for Fallout 3. He played through two of the games but quit Fallout Tactics before the end saying it wasn't as fun as the other games. He enjoyed it but hasn't even considered playing the games since Fallout 3 came out.
After we bought Fallout 3 and I played that game and loved it, I thought I'd try the predecessors. But I found the older Fallouts to not be as engaging as the current game - maybe I'm just spoiled by the better graphics and easier controls but I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone who has played Fallout 3 and wants to give the older games a try. Good buy for boys feeling nostalgic!

PROS: Great graphics being that it's an older game. Good Combat system. Endless freedom. AWESOME Game!!
CONS: In game play you are on your own - basically it doesn't guide you through the game. Mature game - not meant for kids. Have to use your brain to make tough decisions throughout the game. Would you recommend to a friend: Yes!

Cool Package,

This is a super cool deal and it comes with three great games.Fallout 1 is awsome and also responsible for alot of todays modern western role playing games.Fallout 2 follow's real close to fallout 1 meaning they are alot alike.Fallout tactics is kind of a rpg/rts hybred. They are all really great games if your into that stuff.
However I did have alot of problems with part 1 and a few with part 2.The first game would crash alot and I do mean alot and it can dampen the fun a little. If you have the patience then its not too big of a deal.Part 2 did it but not no where near as much.Tactics did really good. Here is your chance to get a shot at history, and they are still fun to this day!

The auto installer doesn't work great, and you have to manual install the patches, but it's all there. No need to find and download any updates.
